Fauci Privately Warns Trump Admin Against Reversing Social Distancing Rules

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the National Institute Of Allergy And Infectious Diseases director at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), has reportedly been trying to push back against the possibility of the Trump administration lifting its social distancing guidelines during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Trump, Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin and several Republicans have reportedly become concerned that social distancing will hurt the economy, leading them to argue that such measures ought to be rolled back. Trump’s fear stems from the fact that a tanking economy would imperil his reelection prospects, according to the Post.

People are saying that tRump Hotels are offering daily Toga parties hosted by Rand Paul at a new low low rate. I encourage all who curry tRump’s favor to attend these.

Everything must be weighed against a disruption of his re-election chances…nothing else matters. :face_with_thermometer: :mask::skull_and_crossbones:

Keep trying, Dr. Fauci, keep trying.

Donnie will do what he wants to do, but at least you’re showing that some sanity still exists in this administration.

It is going to turn interesting if Trump battles with Fauci.

Consider the idea that Fauci’s name recognition is far higher than Jerome Adams and Trump has a problem immediately with screwing Fauci over.

Can we stop the fantasy that Trump “doesn’t want this job” and “is looking for a reason to resign”? He likes Presidentin’ because it gives him an unprecedented ability to get attention, argue with the press, and do favors for actual billionaires.

The only way he’s going is if Senate Republicans turn on him, or is voted out.

Why privately, Dr. Fauci? Scream it from the rooftops.

Yeah, I know you’re trying to reason with a sea slug…

First , they are not men they are Republicans.
Second, Trump and friends have the best medical treatments available so if they contact anything they will be cared for at the highest level.

Let the Red states reverse social distancing and the Blue states continue it and see how that works out come November.

Once the dust settles, I’ll betcha the death rate in Kansas, Nebraska and other rural, red states will outpace the rates in NY, NJ and the northeast.

Keep going to church and you will die. Don’t close the local buffet restaurant and you will die.

It isn’t political for Fauci. He comes to the table as an infectious disease specialist. He’s been at this a long time, since the AIDS crisis. His only objective is to get correct information to the public , so they can make informed decisions and, in turn, save lives.

By contrast, Bonespurs is gaming the situation in order to gauge his reelection prospects. He doesn’t care who lives or dies.

Let us be clear: Fauci cannot save us from the virus. He is asking us to save ourselves and others by doing what he and other medical scientists advise. He cannot save us from our Current Occupant. He is telling us how a rational person in leadership should act and hoping like f**k we will have learned the lesson come November.

Unfortunately, the virus doesn’t care about political leanings. Republicans can still spread it to Democrats and independents, and there are a whole lot of us who live in red states.

I’ve seen these types of showdowns before, and the remaining constant with this Administration is that the Idiot always wins, and others suffer the consequences. I expect this to end no differently, even though we’re currently on an exponential upswing part of the curve. Multiple millions will be infected, with deaths into the tens of thousands, at minimum. The wrong decision here is a death sentence, especially for older Americans. Yet, I fear, there is no one capable of talking sense into him.
