Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and a member of the White House’s coronavirus task force, chatted with NBA MVP and Golden State Warriors player Steph Curry on Instagram Live Thursday afternoon, fielding a number of questions regarding COVID-19’s spread and efforts to combat the pandemic.
Horseshit. We don’t have near enough testing going on to even know how widespread it is or where the “safe” areas are.
I know one person who tested positive. The spouse is unable to get a test done because they don’t have symptoms. So the State just presumes they’re infected and orders them quarantined, but they’ll never hit the list of positive tests…
There was the respiratory illness a lot of people in our area suffered from in December and January (so many people were on oxygen in the hospitals around here!) and I understand that there are maps for ILI, Influenza Like Illness which might or might not have been Covid19. My partner and I both had this and for myself it felt like I my lungs were being invaded by a band of tiny mountaineers. As it went on (for weeks!) if felt like death was hovering just over me and settled in my lungs. Still now, two months later I experience some of the symptoms and wonder if its Covid19. Do I go visit my 87 yr old mother? Do I visit my 62 yr old sister? I have no idea! If there was testing we might know what we had and if we are still contagious. As it is, it’s like flying blind.
“In medical terms, Fauci mentioned that the “general rule” is to have two cultures, 24 hours apart, that test negative, but said that as more people get infected that likely is not going to be feasible.”
Getting one is nearly impossible,Doctor Fauci.Test centers here in Jersey open at 8:00am close at 8:30am hundreds in line.
Same here. They reach capacity early in the morning here because the CDC will only let them do so many tests. We have drive through testing centers but they are open to anyone, not just county residents, so people are coming from all over and lining up.
“There’s a big difference between the extreme of locking a city down, opening it up a bit, but being more careful than you normally would be,” Fauci said. “And I think there are places in the country now where you can look at carefully and say maybe you want to pull back a little bit on restrictions so as long as you don’t let it rip and say ‘I don’t care what happens.’”
Where and what data exists to support that? Is Dr. Fauci becoming a Trump mouthpiece?
Well, my neighbors on our block of Philly row homes seem to be ok with pulling back on restrictions since many of them have been outside talking to each other for long stretches of time, today. I guess the amount of social distancing is inversely proportional to how nice the weather is. Here’s hoping they won’t be needing post-recovery guidelines anytime soon.
Just to be clear, that is not the signature of a clearly demented psychopath. It’s a beautiful signature, the best signature. Lots of people are saying that, I don’t know if you know that. I know that.
I read this to indicate that Trump’s intention is to focus Federal efforts on more rural red-state areas where he still has strong support so he can crow about being right. He has already blown off CA, WA, NY, NJ, and CT. The bellweather state may be FL. Watch for a coordinated effort to blame Covid-19 spread in the south and mid-west on interlopers from those crime-infested, bankrupt, anti-religious cities.
