Fauci Denies Being Told To Slow Down Testing

Dr. Anthony Fauci denied being told to slow down on testing for the coronavirus while appearing before the House Energy and Commerce Committee on Tuesday regarding the Trump administration’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Maybe he could offer an explanation for the Orange Menace’s claim otherwise then?

Is this “fawning Fauci” talking?

Or "Fiesty Fauci?

I can never tell.

Anyway, Trump claims he’s slowed it down.

Just covers Fauci personally.

I have great respect for Dr. Fauci.

Also, he appears to have no concept of the monster he’s dealing with.

Trump would gut, roast, and eat him alive at the drop of a MAGA hat.

Perhaps it’s Trump doing performative douchebaggery for the rubes. Makes him look “tough” somehow: “We don’t need to do no stinking tests!”

Or maybe he forgets what he says from one day to the next in a non compos mentis kind of way.

But when push comes to shove, he’s not joking. He’s lying or he’s mentally impaired … your pick.

No doubt Trump told Pence. Pence took one look at Fauci and thought better of relaying the order.

Fauci had nothing to do with the reduction of funding for testing. That was done entirely by Trump. Not Fauci’s call and I bet when the question was asked, Fauci might not even been aware the funding cut was coming.

Can I pick both?

No explanation needed. Trump lies all the time, especially at rallies where he gets excited. This was a lie to make him look smarter than the experts, nothing more.

I don’t buy that a conspiracy to reduce testing could slip under the CDC without being noticed. Either Redfield and Fauci are lying, or Trump is. Take your pick.

Not a lot of meat there, though. Fauci looks kind of gristly. Now if he threw in Birx, too, he’d have a meal.

Henry II probably didn’t ask his minister of defense to kill Becket. He just tossed off his request in the hearing of some knights who were desperate for his approval. We know that those who are desperate for T’s approval have no limits, and will slow down the testing in ways out of the control of actual expers.

It makes sense, if Trump told him to slow down testing, that information would have leaked out and we would have heard of it by now. Trump was being Trump, in other words a moron.

What in hell’s name is going on? What’s Trump trying to do here?

He’s killing people and lying about Covid-19, because it’s hurting his re-election chances (which, let’s be honest, have already suffered grievous wounds). We can’t pretend there are no cses. It makes no sense at all!

Of course he didn’t tell Fauci.

He told Jared, who then took it upon himself to start doing things like blocking use of tests from other countries, confiscating PPE shipments, and other steps to slow the rollout of thorough testing.

It wasn’t an accident that we peaked at 250K tests for several weeks with no movement.

Then you lack imagination.

I have a vivid imagination. I’m picturing a tumbrel, a guillotine with a very sharp blade, and a screaming orange man.

I think Trump was doing his usual trick: hinting vaguely, knowing that people such as Cohen would understand and act as if they had been ordered to act. Fauci, on the other hand, played dumb: pretended not to understand the (subtle or not) hint, and now is pretending that he never heard an order. I guess it always depends on what the meaning of “is” is

Of course, considering the previous article,

Trump really doesn’t need to tell Fauci or the CDC anything. He simply has to tell his affected cabinet secretaries to cut the funding. So, I think the conundrum is worked out.

They won’t escape the consequences though. When the death counts continue to rise, people who know what’s going on will start naming names. The medical professionals out there will know.
