CHICAGO (AP) — In the days since President Donald Trump blamed antifa activists for an eruption of violence at protests over police killings of black people, social media has lit up with false rumors that the far-left-leaning group is transporting people to wreak havoc on small cities across America.
This sounds exactly like the sort of disinformation that the GRU spread during the last election. If these Facebook militias end up hurting some innocent family (and the hills around Coeur D’Alene has enough stored ammunition to supply a middle-size war), no one wins except those who want the US to fall apart faster.
I have relatives in a rural part of a Midwest state. Totally paranoid about an antifa invasion. Is lapping it up hook line and sinker. Nothing, absolutely nothing, will dissuade them from thinking they are the biggest threat we face.
FIRST OFF who IS this mythical ‘far left Antifa’ group? It’s all BS. More fear and loathing from the bully boy crowd…what’s next? LEGOs? Oh wait…anyway, these RW gun toting domestic terrorists are looking for ANY excuse to swing their … whatevers. We have a bunch in my state out there in the rural enclaves and we have discussed ‘carrying’ when we leave the city.
The only actual example anyone has of actual Antifa doing any sort of actual violence is when they went to Charlottesville a couple of years ago and punched some Nazis in their Nazi faces.
And these guys are now being considered terrorists in America…
My 16-year-old grandson (Very bright, liberal thinking) just asked me what ‘antifa’ really was.
I answered that it was just a lie, a very convenient alliterative replacement for the ‘Benghazi!!!’ of the previous election.
He looked at me and said “I don’t get it!”
I looked at him and replied “Neither do they, but it’s working.”
