Indeed. In fact, I can almost see them wringing their hands over whether or not to restore Hitler’s account. They’d be like, “well, we realize he murdered over 6 million jews, but that was in the past and we can’t keep him off of our platform indefinitely.”
WTF is wrong with these people? You get life in prison for murder, you should get a lifetime ban from FB for fomenting an insurrection to overthrow the government. This isn’t hard!
What @geographyjones said: It’s an early warning system that gives you a minute or two to duck into a doorframe or get outside your house before the shock wave arrives.
“It is not permissible for Facebook to keep a user off the platform for an undefined period, with no criteria for when or whether the account will be restored,”
“Not permissible” to refuse to associate with shit-throwers? First Amendment would like a word…
This language which the board is using sounds so very governmental/judicial. FB is a private business. Zuck needs to take literal ownership of his business.
With the board giving Zuck a 6 month window to figure out if cutting Trump off from FB resulted in lower number of FB participants, or that advertisers left in flurry of hurry then make the decision on business reasons.
Zuck this is one of those things where you can’t please everyone all the time, you’ll be damned if you allow him, and damned if you don’t. So maybe the question is how much bloodshed are you willing to leave on your hands, Zuck?
