Experts Say Foreign Governments Are ‘Playing Trump’ on Tariffs

If Biden was caught chewing gum it was time for impeachment. Shit they tried to impeach him every week for nothing. This is why I don’t see a way forward without a massive upheaval of some type. They simply won’t abide by any rules whatsoever unless it benefits them.

I think, on average, the American People have just gotten stupider thanks to our education system, we’ve become alarmingly anti social thanks to the inaptly named Social Media and cell phones, we’re just strung out on caffeine thanks to Starbucks and Red Bull et al, and all we really want to do is gamble and watch porn on our phones.

We’re The Mediocre Influencer’s Generation now, it’s pretty sad and depressing the state we’re in these days.

Seems like a perfect opportunity for some kind of New Deal to re-capture the good of the Declaration without the bad parts that came along for the ride.

Lula’s approval rises amid tariff dispute with Trump, poll shows

SAO PAULO, July 31 (Reuters) - Approval for Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva exceeded disapproval for the first time in nine months, a poll showed on Thursday, against a backdrop of a growing dispute with Washington.

Earlier in July, U.S. President Donald Trump said he would slap 50% tariffs on Brazilian exports to fight what he has called a “witch hunt” against Lula’s right-wing rival, former President Jair Bolsonaro.

Is this the kind of “What did you do today?” reporting that DOGE was looking for?

So, will a war with Russia distract from Epstein and the economy/jobs numbers?

Trump Says He Ordered Subs Repositioned in Rare Nuclear Threat to Russia

In a social media post, the president described the move as a deterrent prompted by threats by a former Russian leader. It is unclear if any submarines did actually change position.

The thing is, even though Trump is practicing governance like a WWE wrestling match, it is not possible to walk away from the instabilities it raises: nations no less than businesses must plan ahead and they cannot do so with any confidence in this environment.

NB: the downward revisions in BLS employment data are quite possibly a consequence of forestalled planning and a harbinger of much worse to come; e.g., The Meaning of a Weak Jobs Report - Paul Krugman

Provided of course we are allowed to see the details when that happens …

I confess, I am not impressed by the presence of a ballroom, regardless of its size.
Clearly a manifestation of my wannabe limousine liberalism.

Governments are rightly playing for time while restructuring global trade with sane, dependable trading partners. That obviously no longer includes the US.

At this rate I expect Canada to enter an expansive free trade agreement with the EU and join the EU by 2028, perhaps holding the final ink on the latter until after the US midterms.

It will be hard for the Court to claim “No harm, no foul,” if the Trump Tariffs tank the economy.

After a recent move, my partner just today discovered he needs to search for a new barber after this one got mouthy bold with his chatter about “sleepy Joe Biden.”

The cultists have nothing but inane propaganda while the nation disintegrates around us.

It is puzzling, perhaps in a good way, that this tariff court process is obscure and under the radar on one hand, but on the other hand quite powerful as judicial authorities go. It resides in the important, respected DC federal court. The original decision, instead of being from a single judge, was rendered by a three judge panel. It is by its nature a nationwide decision… it doesn’t get hashed out repeatedly between circuits. The appeal was heard in the first instance en banc by the full 11 judge bench instead of the usual three judge panel. The original decision, and the eventual appeals court decision, which should come shortly, would seem to carry extraordinary heft going into the Supreme Court. Maybe that matters.
