Experts Place New Secret Society Squarely In The Christian Nationalist Revival - TPM – Talking Points Memo

A men-only, Christian-only, right-wing secret society with the aim of installing certain kinds of Christians in a future U.S. government does not want to be called Christian nationalist.

Christian Nationalism, teaching scared little boys how to be scared little men for 2000 years and counting!

First rule of Christianity is to lie.
There is a thing of spouting forgiveness of sins, eat some bread followed by just the right amount of wine and your lie or whatever your other sins are are forgiven.

Wouldn’t it be interesting if an intrepid reporter interviewed for membership and answered all the questions but one in an acceptable way, but responded to the question about Trump by saying that he’s not a believer in anything other than himself.

That would give us some insight into just what this group’s goals really are.

Ok, so a bunch of exclusively white, male, wealthy, “trinitarian christian” dudes also argue "that the country should return to its 19th century existence as a “loose union of localized states,” removing the federal hand which, presumably, prevents “those who wish to live in virtue and preserve Christian civilization” from doing so.

I guess they wait until they’re in their secret society meetings to talk about restoring slavery too.

This is what happens when your society evolves based on who has the greatest ability to inherit.

A condition of the concentration of wealth is that a younger, dumber, richer generation blow up in a glorious orgy of their own fart juice.

I’m a little curious as to what “clever” definition these jackasses have for Christian Nationalism that allows them to claim their movement isn’t a clear example of it.

SACR, for example, only allows certain kinds of Christians into its ranks: trinitarian Christians. LDS members, Unitarians, and some pentecostals would not qualify under this rubric.

Ugh, I hate it when people lump Unitarianism in with protestant religions. We’re not a form of Christianity.

Every one of these grew up idolizing their father. Then realized one day that their kindly garbage man could rip all four of their arms off and likely had the right.

In regard to our current politics how did we get here, wealthy elites weaponized White resentment and used it to gain power and enrich themselves at the expense the very people who gave them that power all the time scapegoating minorities and women. Until the rise of Donald Trump it was possible to deny this with a straight face

Paul Krugman, not an exact quote but from memory.

The overwhelming support for Donald “grab her by the …” by White Evangelicals proves beyond all doubt that values in front of the word voter is and has always been code for race, the internet.

The 7 planks of the Republican Party:

  1. Race Baiting
  2. Gay Bashing
  3. Immigrant Scapegoating
  4. Flag Waiving
  5. Bible thumping
  6. Women degrading
  7. Shouting "He’s a liberal, he’s a liberal, he’s a…

And the only policy, shifting wealth to the top .01% returning us to the “Golden Age” when most Americans lived in poverty, women had no rights, Blacks were lynched, non-Christians were denied access to jobs and society and immigrants were used as slave labor.

I’m starting to wonder if Eric Hovde, who has declared candidacy against Tammy Baldwin for US Senate from Wisconsin, might not be a member of this society. He seems to fit their “criteria” of rich, white, male, trinitarian Chrstian (Lutheran), spouts all of the GQP platform talking points (including Open Borders!!!). Hasn’t voted in 17/30 elections in the past decade. Owns a home in Wisconsin and a $7 million mansion in Cali. And no clue at all about anything in Wisconsin. His campaign commercial doesn’t mention the state at all. It how shows an outline of the state on his logo at the end of the commercial, but generic enough to use anywhere.

And thinks stupid stunts will prove he’s a “real” Wisconsinite!

I’m going full tilt radical here in suggesting that Christianity is the stalking horse for the class war over values. It will give the cosmic okay to the horrible things that will be required for Mr. Haywood to realize his dreams. Christ has nothing to do with any of it. The gospel will be left behind in search of the muscular Christ that will vanquish once and for all the elites that torment this class.

The most under appreciated and unmarked word in in our Declaration Independence which clearly declared the ultimate purpose of the US Constitution is the word “self-evident”. Our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is that which is SELF-EVIDENT- self-evident to us all and not just a sliver of of Christian devotees. PERIOD.
Further, the chritsiofascists are doubly wrong; The Declaration of Independence clearly DOES NOT sanction the Bible as the source of our 'self-evident" truths, nor are the 1000’s of matters which this charge of self-evident reflection in the crafting of our laws are even mentioned the the Bible.
So bring your Bible to the debate, but it does not hold special virtue or privilege in the seeking of self-evident truth.

They are White Men. The Bearers of Little Pink Penises, the organs of xtianity. What they say goes in every instance. Have you never spoken with white men before? If the little pink penis says it is a xtian revivalist and absolutely not a xtian nationalist, then you are obligated to understand that the little pink penis has spoken and the matter is now resolved. Do not repudiate the Pinkies! Do not! They are chosen by their very own deity.
I am so delighted that our children and grandchildren are renouncing religion!

Of course, the great irony here is that Mr. Haywood is himself an elite as are most of the men in the Claremont society. So we may presume that their main task will be organizing the men who will provide the muscle without ever letting them have a handle on power. Plenty of grist for satire there.
