Former Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker will testify in the House’s impeachment inquiry this week even after Secretary of State Mike Pompeo vowed to prevent State Department officials from doing so.
And the IG is testifying tomorrow, and Yavanovitch is now scheduled for 10/11. More info will definitely be coming out in the next days/weeks, despite Pompeo obstructing.

Good…he probably resigned so he could testify when called, it sounds like he was never onboard with the whole scheme and was just doing what he was told. I can understand that, especially if he was trying to limit the damage instead of going along with the insanity. It is a very good sign that he’s going to ignore Pompeo and testify, that will give others the courage to do so as well…I suspect he will get attacked before his testimony to try to stop him, and maybe even have the DoJ try to throw up a roadblock, plus the committee Republicans will try to tear him apart for deigning to go out and tell the truth, but it sounds like he’s willing to put it out there and bear the consequences of telling the truth.
If we can get senior staffers like this to spill the beans, then we get lots of information they do not want out in the wild…and these people aren’t all Trump acolytes, they are just doing their jobs and trying to survive, so their loyalty is to the nation. It’s about to be tested, we’ll see how many of them stand up to the administration and tell us what has been going on.
despite Pompeo’s defiant letter to the committee chairs declaring that he would “use all means at my disposal” to block their attempts to interview State Department staffers about the sprawling Ukraine scandal.
Well, this is just a bit embarrassing for Pompeo, no? He bellows a Trumpian-type threat, and is promptly ignored by others in and out of the State Department.
I’m not hip to the latest lingo, but I imagine this is what the young folk call a cuck.
After Muller and his white-washed report, I can’t imagine why Democrats place faith in the integrity of any Republican. Bottom line, he’s a Republican, so I’ll believe he’s got courage when I see it. Until then, color me skeptical.
I don’t know the whole story, of course. But I know someone in his position has very little power to stem the whole tide of malfeasance while it is washing over a dept. and all the gung-ho fuks are going all-in on lawlessness.
@darksol says they get the spine AFTER…and I have a hard time with that. I get what he is saying, but who among us would be able to hold back The Pres, his lawyers, and the SecOfState when they were rolling. Then, you wonder what the hell just happened and what can I really do about it except get fired and buried and retaliated against…including my family and kids futures…etc. Then they tried to throw him under the bus and he is doing what he can NOW to slip them the shiv in the way he best can.
I surely don’t trust any republicans either. This guy seems like he is trying to make right and is fighting the pressure.
He’s a career diplomat, served as US Ambassador to NATO under GW Bush and Obama. A Republican but not a Trump hack.
There is a difference with guys like this who have had a career under both Republican and Dem administrations. An R, but possibly one of the good ones who still care about the country. It will be veeery interesting to see what this guy says.
