Ex-Prosecutor In Insurrection Probe Says Trump May Be ‘Culpable’ In Capitol Siege

Michael Sherwin, the former acting U.S. attorney in Washington, D.C. who led the investigation into the Capitol insurrection on January 6, confirmed on Sunday night that the feds are investigating ex-President Donald Trump’s role in the violence that unfolded that day.

I’ll believe it when I see him charged and convicted by a jury.

He’s culpable alright, but he certainly isn’t credible. I hope he goes under oath, that’ll be fun to watch.

There is no “may be culpable” about it. He absolutely is culpable. The only question is will he be prosecuted.

What he said was so obvious about Trump’s culpability that it’s a telling comment on this country that nobody in authority has said it during the last three months.

Watch for Sherwin to start receiving death threats. It’s been a signature of the Trump regime that his opponents, real or perceived, always receive threats.

This will all be moot once Trump is inaugurated for his second term. That’s happening on Mar. 20. Oh, wait… Can someone provide me with an update? I haven’t gotten the memo, and I really need to get my bus ticket.

The big question is: will they get Trump under oath to learn what he intended?

Much of this goes to intent. What did Trump intend to happen? If he were to testify under oath, then we’d at least have an idea of what he has to say about his intent. Whatever he says would be useful.

What he intended to happen would seem to dovetail with what he hoped would happen, that somehow Congress and/or Pence would act in a way that kept him as president. Anyway, a good questioner could delve further into this to see if Trump was looking for the crowd to act by any means necessary, including violence, to achieve his hoped-for outcome. Most people here would say that of course he was in favor of anything that would make him the winner, violence included. It would be fantastic to get him under oath and ask him that.

“Trump may be culpable”
In that same vein:

Mr. N hold on!

According to this “prophet” the military will remove Biden in the last week of April and reinstall Trump…

When that rolls around and Joe is still President, I’m sure this asshole will say that The Big G gave him another “revelation” that pushes the date down the road again!

I like the way “preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution” has become a radical, far-left idea…

I may only believe it when the orange tang POS is handcuffed and in a xxxl short matching orange jumpsuit as it shuffles into court for sentencing!

Maybe.

But the guy is an inveterate liar. He’s said stuff that could be immediately challenged and nothing happened - no challenge, no refutation.

Besides which, he won’t come to the hearing. He’ll have eleventy-seven excuses for not coming. And no lawyer in right (or left) mind would allow T**** in the witness stand.

I have a story: my mother was slowly losing it after she and my dad were in a car accident that ended up taking my father’s life. The shock of the loss (just two weeks before their 50th wedding anniversary) put my mother in a state from which she never really recovered, mentally. There was a strong possibility that she was going to have to testify against the officer that caused the accident.

The publicity of the accident was that bad that the town decided to settle out of court and it was a good thing. Continued review and rehearsal and practice showed that my mother was in no condition to get on a witness stand. She was constitutionally unable to answer a simple yes or no question without facial or bodily signals that might invalidate her response.

The same thing will happen here. T**** will just pontificate from the stand and dodge any answers. Won’t matter that he’s under oath. I can also see where his legal team will demand the questions in writing and only offer written responses.

Nothing will happen here. I just don’t see it. History will not be kind, especially if the whole Wurlitzer starts up again in a couple of years ahead of the next Presidential election.

Over the last 50 years holding members of the ruling class accountable for their criminal actions has proven to be illusive. Color me skeptical that sitting members of Congress let alone Trump will be charged with sedition. The criminal justice system is for the little people. We are becoming more like 4th century Rome every day.

Only if he had stopped it just after it started, could he escape culpability.

But instead he watched it gleefully on TV. He was likely watching it when the Capitol officer was killed, yet did NOTHING to stop it.

Whatever that crime is, he committed it.
