Totally agree. There should be the investigation (currently underway) by intelligence, FBI, DOJ, etc. to nail down the perps who planned, funded, and ran the insurrection. But there also needs to be a public reckoning of the incendiary language, the rallies, posturing, etc. designed to undermine confidence in the election, and the stochastic terrorism engaged in by too many inside and outside our government, particularly in Congress and the White House that resulted in violence against members of Congress and the seat of our government. Otherwise it will happen again.

This is why if Manchin et al. won’t support the voting rights bill, Biden should appoint new SC judges. The gerrymandering will never go away - NEVER; the current SC says they’re not touching it. If the Dems don’t do one of these options, it will incredibly disappointing. And yeah, I’m not holding my breath.

Having the DoJ investigate the Trump Treason attack, which Monkey Mike McCaul proposed today, would give the GQP far more ammunition to claim partisanship. It is, after all, an arm of the Executive branch.

Solution 1: Biden appoints a commission equally balanced with members of both parties. Have no time limits on the investigation. Give subpoena power to commission.

Solution 2: The House assembles a select committee to investigate the treason. If the GOP could investigate Hillary for 28 MONTHS with one, the Dems can root out GQP traitors with one.

(Any commission that gives veto power to the GQP over witnesses is worthless.)

I don’t think Biden will touch this. It would establish a precedent of a current President investigating the former one.

I believe Biden will maintain a higher approval record if he doesn’t go down that road, leaving non-criminal fact finding for Congress (or at least the House) and criminal investigations for the DOJ.

All that is true, but the buses didn’t drive themselves there. There was funding, planning, and coordination above and beyond what the Oathkeepers and Proud Boys did.

I would love to know what this meeting convened on June 5, at the Trump Hotel was about. To me, it’s a reminder of that infamous June, 2016 meeting Don Jr and Kushner held with Russian agents. Occam’s razor with regards to Trump is the most sinister option until proven otherwise.

Hell the Oath Keepers had a plan to invade by boat. And they stashed weapons for that plan, I read. If an attack on the capitol building - the first since 1812 - doesn’t produce an investigation then I don’t know what deserves one.

There is much to uncover that we do not know. I would give a lot to know what happened in the meetings at the Trump Hotel in Washington on January 5 that were attended by, among others, Eric Trump, Donald Trump, Jr., Peter Navarro, Senator Tommy Tuberville, Michael Flynn, Michael J. Lindell, Corey Lewandowski, and Adam Piper (director of the Republican Attorneys General Association).

I feel like that gathering has gone down the memory hole, and it should not.
