Ex-GOP House Intel Chair Demands Biden Receive Intel Reports: This ‘Isn’t About Politics’

Former Rep. Mike Rogers (R-MI), who chaired the House Intelligence Committee during the Obama administration, on Tuesday hit back at the Trump administration’s restrictions on sharing national security information with President-elect Joe Biden amid the sitting POTUS’ refusal to concede his election loss.

“Access to classified information is useful but I’m not in a position to make any decisions on these issues anyway,” Biden said. “It would be nice to have it but it’s not critical.”

Not a bad response from Biden – but obviously Mike Rogers is right about this:

Our adversaries aren’t waiting for the transition to take place. [Biden] should receive the President’s Daily Brief (PDB) starting today. He needs to know what the latest threats are & begin to plan accordingly. This isn’t about politics; this is about national security.

And agreeing with Mike Rogers is a rare-enough thing.

If the current chairs of the relevant committees were to speak up, that would be nice.

Wait, what??!!?!?

A republican who is putting country above party?

NAHHHhh.

I appreciate Rogers speaking out. Maybe Joe could just get a copy from his dear friend Barack. One thing is for sure, if possible, Biden should cut off Trump’s access to PDBs on Inauguration Day. Trump may not even notice it until Putin asks.

Former presidents do not get the PDB. They can request, and do receive, briefings, as needed, but not the PDB – so Biden can’t get a copy from Obama – and Trump’s access will be cut off automatically the moment he leaves office.

It really amazes me how traditional opponents can make a hell of a lot of sense when Trump does not own them.

How are they going to get things moving? Inquiring minds want to know. Please, an opinion piece on this, Mr. Marshall!!

Exactly. And wait, what?
Only former Republican office holders have the balls to state this obvious fact?
Naaah, cannot be…they are such tough gunslinger posturers…

There is no real need to make a copy of the daily briefing. Trump never pays attention to it anyway.

has not signed the letter of “ascertainment.”

Well, maybe they’re just jealous of her ascertainaninty. (Kid in the Hall, anyone?)

I would be very, very, very surprised if the famed Deep State does not find some way of funneling any necessary and pertinent national intelligence data to the Biden/Harris camp if/when doing so is warranted. They are not amateurs, after all.

That was my reaction. Note the prefix, ex.

It’s not about politics. It’s about power. Sheer, unadulterated Republican power and their singular drive to keep it while destroying the country.

Just wondering if receiving such a briefing would force Biden to jail Trump.

That is considering all we know about Trump’s proclivity to use his office for personal and Putin’s gain, Trump may have reasons beyond not accepting Biden’s victory for keeping the briefings from the President elect.

I just posted about the Georgia Secretary of State, a Republican doing exactly that.

The only difference is that the Georgia Secretary of State is still in office so it matters.

Trump may not notice, because he hasn’t actually had an intelligence briefing since October 1.

I am not making this up.

My suspicion is Joe is getting this under the table.

Kushner will notice.
