So his conduct is impeachable … but the hypothetical behavior of a hypothetical Democratic opponent could be worse.

This is what sane (relatively sane considering) say when they are not running for office. They can actually look at the facts.
Cruz has already suggested he’s unimpressed by the evidence

Trump’s lies and disrespect for Cruz’s family should be more than enough for any Republican to vote him out. Trump doesn’t share our value of family and community.
Remember when Trump said the following about Fiorina?
“Look at that face! Would anyone vote for that?” Trump said. “Can you imagine that, the face of our next president.”
Fiorina saying that she might still vote for Trump just shows us that she is the female equivalent of Ted Cruz.
And the search continues in trying to find the good sadists.
How about we set to finding the teachable folks who never had the privilege of a good education.

Host Jake Tapper asked Sanford on CNN’s “State of the Union” if he would vote for Trump over Vice President Joe Biden if they end up being the candidates in 2020. “I don’t know,” Sanford responded. "What I’ve said is I’m an issue guy."
Sanford said he’s going to base his decision on “who is going to be closest to me” with a focus on debt and spending.

Gotta say here that writing the headline “Ex-Cruz running mate…” is not as powerful as mentioning Fiorina directly. Who the hell remembers B-/C-team running mates? But I DO know who Fiorina is and she was a full-fledged Republican presidential candidate in the last cycle. And she’s a SHE. Let’s give Fiorina her due. I doublt TPM would write the headline the same way if it was Romney, Jeb! or any of the other men.
