Ex-CDC Staffers Say Conway And Ivanka Were Part Of WH Effort To Meddle Into Agency’s Messaging | Talking Points Memo

As the country reels from surging numbers of COVID-19 cases, former Trump appointees who served key roles in the CDC detailed their experiences with Trump administration officials meddling in the agency’s public messaging in interviews with the New York Times published Wednesday.

“McGowan and Campbell, who left the CDC in August and opened a health policy consulting firm after their departure,…”

Of course they did.

Amazing the importance of a corrupt AG.

Another example of tRump making America small. The CDC has been a world leader in disease control and respected throughout the world in that role.

Now the fuckery inflicted on them by ass wipes like Conway and Lust Object has resulted in an agency that will need years to regain that respect.

And with virtually no experience or credentials in public health. I am offended by the tone they take of trying to defend the CDC scientists. Except the only logical way to do that is not to take a political job in the first place and let the scientists and career professionals do their job.

A bachelors in polysci and staffing for Tom Price is does not qualify you for this role!

So they waited until now to bring this up? Where the fuck were they 6 months ago?! Hello? “Whistleblower” much?

Apparently not. They stood by and let Trump fuck the country. 17 million cases, 300,000 dead American citizens. They bear some of the responsibility for letting it happen from within. Fuck them.

We probably don’t know even one-percent of the full backstory, but my hair is already raised and standing at attention.

I know that whenever I am in need of expert guidance in matters of health, the first name that always comes to mind is Ivanka Trump.

And why would two experts in that specific field not?

I suspect we will hear more of these kinds of stories going forward…it’s obvious that the Trump people put politics and obeisance to Trump above science and helping people. Not just with COVID either.

There really should be a law passed that forces the political appointees to stick to the science, and that gives the civil servants recourse when political appointees attempt to interfere or refuse to take science into account. The next Republican administration will do exactly the same thing, their policies are the opposite of what science says should be happening so they will undercut everything for their lies and propaganda.

Except in this case, it cost 300,000 American lives (and counting). IMO it’s gross negligence rising to the level of homocide…

“Every time that the science clashed with the messaging, messaging won,” McGowan told the Times.“

There should be legal consequences for such behavior. Some sort of reckless endangerment charges seem appropriate.

I completely agree!!!

All I ever hear is Ivanka this and Ivanka that. But to my knowledge, nobody has ever completed that thought. Ivanka what? They always just leave it hanging there.

There’s a point at which staying married to a monster becomes a not-so-tacit approval of the monster. Just in case George happens to be reading the TPM forums.

You can imagine. The scientists say handle school this way. Ivanka says something different. You connect the dots and there’s the picture.

Why do you think they put off cooperating in the transition like they did? Pretty sure that was to allow them to cobble together something to make them look like they were doing shit when they were actually sitting on their asses.

And yes “Drs.” Conway and Trump are definitely my go-to team for all things pandemic.

That’s what I said.
