Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Janet Protasiewicz’s landslide April victory continues to be an existential threat to state Republicans, who have gerrymandered the state so aggressively as to be assured permanent legislative control no matter who voters choose.
That’s the right pitch. Now we’ll see if it sticks.
If it does then not only may Wisconsin be saved from the fascists but perhaps it could scale up nationally.

Wisconsin had maps drawn by a non-partisan group that actuall had been upheld by the Wisconsin Supreme Court, that was basically overturned by…SCOTUS. Sent back to the WI SC, the maps which still gave the GQP a majority, but brought a better balance and made several districts competitive, they then selected the maps drawn in secret (with taxpayer funds) and defended in court with taxpayer funds and private attorneys) which gave the super majority to the Senate, and one seat away in the Assembly
SCOTUS did uphold the congressional legislative district maps, however.

The Republicans announced the new plan on the heels of the news that Wisconsin Democrats will pour millions into an ad campaign to pressure the most vulnerable Republicans to back off the Protasiewicz impeachment push.
I see a small issue with this plan in that a fair redistricting will likely eliminate the most vulnerable Republicans’ districts, so, if they were smart,* they wouldn’t be inclined to bend to the Democrats’ pressure.
* Ah, I found the release valve.

The Democratic Party is not actually a petitioner in either of the cases, but the argument seems to be that Democrats broadly support redistricting reform, so it’s somehow a conflict of interest.
Being a Democrat is a conflict of Republican interests, therefore, to be fair, only Republicans can decide state issues.

Yup a person can only “know” what their information sources tell them so when Joe Schlitzpack drives out to get another half rack he’s got Hannity on one AM station and Limpbaughs replacement on the other. Then it’s back home to the recliner for hours more indoctrination from cable nets that are getting more and more right wing conspiratorial.

His brewery is in a deeply red area of Wisconsin and he’s been fighting against a GQP majority in the town that has only designs to shutting him down. He’s been to their board meetings several times to plead his case, only to be given strict rules on what he’s allowed to say in his defense or, more lately, been refused the microphone in the meetings at all.
All because they disagree with his politics.
