Even Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) — a close ally of President Trump who egged on his bogus claims of widespread voter fraud — on Sunday threw cold water onto Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-TX) proposal for an election commission to probe President-elect Joe Biden’s victory, days before Congress will hold a joint session ratifying President-elect Joe Biden’s Electoral College win.
I definitely hope that some Dem staffer, preferably a digital-forensics specialist, makes taking down Lindsey a personal project, after Jan 20. He’s about as scummy as they come.
We have reached the point where the only thing left is for Trump to appear personally at the session, get down on his knees and beg Nancy and Mitch to let him be President.
Over at Politico, under the topic of McConnell loses control, they have this to say:
We can’t say this emphatically enough: This does not happen to Mitch McConnell. For four years, the Senate leader has managed to maintain order in his ranks as Trump unleashes daily mayhem on the GOP from the White House. That’s all gone to hell.
The chaos here among Republicans is peculiar though encouraging. It’s quite possible that, even if McConnell keeps his majority after Tuesday’s election, he might not be able to hold the Republicans together very often over the next two years. Seeing McConnell lose control of the Senate in spite of having the majority might be fun to watch. It will be better if the Dems win the Senate back outright but, even if they don’t, it appears as though there’s hope.
The poor old bloated orange duck is lame already, magat infested. Stop trying to prolong its pain, propping it up with whatever’s at hand. It is pathetic. Like the duck.
I’d like to believe that Teddy and his allies are carving themselves out a cave in the jungle, and that, as a reward, they’ll get to lead an increasingly irrelevant Drumpfist wing of the reactionary party.
I suppose that’s my optimism.
“The people of Georgia are angry, the people in the country are angry,” he said. “And there’s nothing wrong with saying, you know, um, that you’ve recalculated.”
Raffensperger responded: “Well, Mr. President, the challenge that you have is, the data you have is wrong."
It’d be gratifying to see Mitch wind up with the kind of frustrated pointlessness that took John Boehner when the freedum caucus held the House party hostage. (ed.)
This actually suits Cruz’s purposes just perfectly. He doesn’t want Trump to somehow retain the Office, he just wants to be seen as fighting for Trump. But, to be clear, he wants to lose this fight because he is one cynical bastard.
