SOAVE, Italy (AP) — In separate, stark warnings, two major European leaders have bluntly told their citizens that the world needs to adapt to living with the coronavirus and cannot wait to be saved by the development of a vaccine.
Somewhat OT, but I just read that the recently appointed new Chinese ambassador to Israel was found dead today in his home in a suburb north of Tel Aviv. He was 57, and only started the post in February, his previous post having been Chinese ambassador to Ukraine of all places. He had recently criticized Mike Pompeo for blaming China for the outbreak during a visit to Israel, the same Mike Pompeo who asked Trump to fire the State Dept’s inspector general. Weird. Not accusing anyone of anything but Trump, Bibi and Putin are political allies, and China and Ukraine are adversaries. Again, weird.
Whoa.
Absent quick development of a vaccine, moves by Italy to prematurely reopen are why the deadly disease will continue to unnecessarily kill. U.S. states like Texas have prematurely reopened and infections are soaring.
Is this the inevitable future until we have a vaccine? If so, we will not see tens of thousands die, but potentially over a million alone in the U.S.
At least their leaders aren’t lying to them. We aren’t even at that level.

The people who think that a reopening will save the economy are delusional. I’m in Suffolk County on Long Island, and almost everyone is wearing a mask while out. I’m fairly certain that if they opened up all the restaurants tomorrow, the overwhelming majority of people would stay home. A reopening isn’t going to save these businesses, sorry.
How unexpected. Surely they asked him about any conflicts of interest before appointing him.

Oh, This “Vaccine Czar” approach is doomed to failure. We were stupid not to have joined the international consortium to develop a vaccine cooperatively. Trump will be ordering corners cut and shoddy, possibly dangerous, testing methodology to force a timeframe. We’ll get unsafe or useless vaccine candidates. More hurry, less speed. Fuck Trump!

This is what worries me. Given what we know about coronaviruses generally, it is not very likely we will get a vaccine. And thats a terrifying thought. But a realistic one, I’m afraid.
We seem to be re-opening too quickly—not targeting anyone in particular, just saying it generally. The economy is just NOT going to snap back the way some people seem to think.
Having said that, I will acknowledge we can’t stay locked down forever. And we need to figure out how to live functionally with this virus because it seems like it’s going to be around for a while. I just don’t feel like we’ve quite figured that out yet though. 
And he said none whatsoever. It was one of those great meetings Trump is always having. Funny, he left his briefcase! Guess he didn’t like it, or something. We’ll just keep it around in case he ever wants it back.
Who would “they” be? He put his stake in the company along with his other holdings in his financial statement to the Feds. But who ever reads them? Everything in the Maladministration is a conflict of interest. Let’s have the Federal Ethics people and the IGs handle it.
I demand the Federal Marshals take everyone in Trump’s circle into custody. That’ll do it.

Yep, these guys are basically saying they not only do not know what to do, they don’t have a clue as to how to learn what to do, how to proceed. If they were being attacked by a foreign enemy, they’d either figure it out fast or they’d be quickly replaced. Time for new leaders.
ANY use or deployment of a vaccine associated with Trump in any way*** is the worst thing that could happen at this point. For the love of everything this country has ever hoped for, THIS particular grift must be stopped, for the sake of our children and future.
*** And that’s the rub. Trump is the kind of person who would be connected with this vaccine in ways that would make his money-laundering operations look like a child’s lemonade stand.

Considering he has told 18,000 lies since the inauguration … would I bet my life or my family’s members on a vaccine he says is a life saver? Especially one unvetted?
