Defense Secretary Mark Esper defended the firing of the Navy captain who was relieved of command after raising concerns over the spread of COVID-19 on his ship, during Sunday morning interviews.
[“It was supported by Navy leadership,” Esper said. “And I think it’s just another example how we hold leaders accountable for their actions.”]
What a coward. Shorter interview: “Modly made the call” and “I took the advice of the Navy”.
It’s telling when folks such as Esper still aren’t providing any reason for the dismissal that passes the laugh test. “Lost confidence” and “poor judgement” are placeholders only, especially since the Captain’s request was entirely correct. They know they’ve got nothin’…
Pretty certain that Esper comes into work every day and looks at a countdown clock to November 3rd.
And reminds himself that every individual who comes to Trump’s attention may have to be put to the side for now, in order to keep the whole Department from coming under Trump’s wrath.
tRUmp, Esper and others don’t have a clue what it takes to lead men and women who a willing to put their lives on the line. The Captain was doing the most important job he had, that is taking care of those that entrust their lives into his hands. Bravo Captain.
This is bullsh*t. Captain Crozier sent a letter up the chain of command. Someone betrayed him by leaking the letter. A carrier captain is admiral material. He, and a country starving for good leaders, got screwed.
