He’s trying to get one his attorneys elected as KY Attny. Gen this November. I’m convinced one of the reasons is to protect him from state prosecution regarding the Oleg & Aluminum plant in KY and those pesky sanctions that got in the way of that deal…until they didn’t.

Said Pompeo: Any action by Democrats to hold the President accountable is unconstitutional because they are partisans and just want to overturn the last election. I run a State Department that is above partisan politics, and the State Department has no obligation to conspire with Democrats to overthrow the government.

That’s a good point – and part of the good point is that voting to confirm Pompeo was an obvious mistake even at the time. (I know there are people who have a biological need to deny this; and that’s OK by me.)
Rand Paul was the only Republican Senator to vote against.

I wouldn’t be so sure of that, unless he’s actually indicted on a criminal charge. He has his eye on a Senate run in Kansas, or maybe Governor. Kansas is a deep red state where a majority are probably still hardcore Trump supporters.
Everything Pompeo is doing now to protect Trump is aimed at his future political life in Kansas, because I think he knows he’ll be out of a job in January 2021.

The Courts are slow, so why not use every tool afforded Congress. Jail, fines. Do this immediately to show they mean business. All this back and forth is evidence either the Democrats are weak or our government is not capable of working.
