Embattled Texas AG Paxton Faces Off Against George P. Bush In Runoff

Even with ex-president Donald Trump’s endorsement, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) failed to get more than 50 percent of the vote in his GOP primary race on Tuesday, forcing him into a runoff against Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush.

In every picture of Paxton, his mouth causes one to wonder if he was weaned on a dill pickle.

Paxton must be wondering what level of cruelty he needs to pursue against which minorities to sew this up. He thought he did the deed by starting a vigilante crusade against trans youth, but apparently that wasn’t blatant or bloody enough for the meat eaters. I think he should just jump in and declare homosexuality illegal.

"…and campaign merch bragging about being the only Bush Trump likes.

Bragging about being the only member of a family that is liked by Donald Trump seems to be the first step in reaching a rational decision to jump off a bridge.

“Bush, who is the son of ex-Texas Gov. Jeb Bush…”

Note to Ms. Cabrera: Jeb Bush was NEVER the governor of Texas.

I think Beto can maybe win this one, even if it’s otherwise a bad year for Democrats. Can’t say why I believe that, just a feeling.

The only reason I am skeptical is money, Abbott has 10 times what Beto has.

But if there are debates, it will be no surprise if Abbott refuses especially if he is up in the polls, will be fun to watch.

Well if Bush wins maybe we can get on with Paxtons trial.

If Paxton loses his trial will move to the next phase in 2039. If he wins the plans are to reschedule it for the second half of the century.

Maybe he and Paxton could make that a double date.

The best part of this is that Louie Gohmert ran for TX AG and gave up his safe Congressional seat to do so, and he only got 4th place!

I’m no expert on TX politics–have only lived here 22 years–but Beto built a formidable ground game and threw a scare into Cruz, even though he couldn’t quite seal the deal. Beto’s people are fired up and out for blood and they won’t lose this one due to lethargy, anyway.

Well, this is a revolting development.

Should be fun to watch them try to out-do each other.

Nothing requires Gohmert to forego another run in his district, or in a different one, despite any of his stated intentions otherwise.

I have heard no accounts of George P. being a terrible person, and he would be a substantial improvement over career criminal Ken Paxton.

That said, Paxton is pretty obviously going to win the runoff. Louie Gohmert’s voters in East Texas will put him over the top. The Bush brand is toxic in the MAGA-sphere.

Which means Paxton will be vulnerable come November.

Texas has been there, and done that. They lost in Lawrence v. Texas at the Supreme Court in 2003.
