Thats too bad. Floodwaters are full of nasty shit- all the industrial waste your local economy produces, busted fuel tanks, the contents of the mysterious rusty tins in grandpa’s garden shed, your neighbors’ septic tanks, and the combined contents of every manure lagoon upstream. Plus all the submerged hazards you can’t see - jagged bits of metal, downed wires, etc. The news always shows pictures of people frolicking in floodwaters, but you really, really should avoid exposing yourself to them if at all possible

Trump sounds high again. He’s all over the place. He’s slurring. Vocal tics. In this bit he accuses Kamala Harris of murder by purposely “letting in” a “savage” (presumably an immigrant) who raped and murdered someone called Rachel (unintelligible). Then he changes genders to him. “She murdered him”

In addition to “Nobody knew,” Trump is always expressing amazement at something any ordinary person would recognize. Even the Hindustan Times ran an article on the bizarreness of his comment, in the middle of an anti-immigrant rant, that “most people don’t have any idea what the hell a phone app is.”

Was it the homestead exemption tax ad? That story made the Metro Section of the Washington Post a week ago, and nothing since. She said she’ll be paying back the money.

I’ve to chase it, but Hogan isn’t the first candidate to make this mistake (I theek PA’s McCormick did ads that ended up playing in Maine).
A bit above my pay grade, but local works better than wasting money while hoping that someone in Anne Arundel is watching a wild card game.

After attending public schools in Brookline, Kennedy went on to The Choate School in Wallingford, Connecticut, and attended the London School of Economics from 1935 to 1936. Kennedy graduated cum laude from Harvard University in 1940 and began graduate school at Stanford University.
Despite having a bad back, Kennedy was able to join the U.S. Navy through the help of Captain Alan Kirk, Director, Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI), who had been the naval attache in London when Joseph Kennedy was the ambassador. In October 1941, Kennedy was appointed an ensign in the U.S. Naval Reserve and joined the staff of the Office of Naval Intelligence. On 15 January 1942, he was assigned to an ONI field office the Sixth Naval District in Charleston, South Carolina. Kennedy attended Naval Reserve Officers Training School at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois, from 27 July through 27 September. After completing this training, Kennedy entered the Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron Training Center, Melville, Rhode Island.

I was a 10 year old white kid from a lily white suburb and when Amos was killed off-screen in Good Times it really kind of shook me. TV shows can DO that? And he was such a sincere, if angry, guy who just needed a god damned break. I just remember always rooting for them to succeed and feeling gutpunched that they were dealt such a blow.
The themes of the show went over my head a bit of course but I still loved it. I’ve often wondered if watching that show had a meaningful impact on me and others who grew up so far removed from “the ghetto”. It can’t have hurt.
And for the record I found JJ tiresome even as a 10 year old.

I was probably a bit younger, but that whole suite of shows…Good Times, Jeffersons, All in the Family, etc., features prominently in the early (albeit vague) childhood memories.

I’ve gotta head out soon to help with a community thing. It’s cool, and I was asking them if they needed anything, like ice or water. The universal answer was “beer,” followed by “no, we probably not until later.”
