Texas. Again. I really miss Molly Ivins.
You guys down there must be really stupid. At least your Gov thinks so.

Isnât that always the way?
Talk abut a slick bastard!
GOP is stupid everywhere.
Welcome to Houston-- you f^cking suckers!
And f^ck you very much for coming!
Signed,
Houstonians
⌠Trumpâs ass.
Just like we do at the typical pandemic funeral. So who is going to be Donaldâs pall bearers?
Essential workers should try to find other work.
I wouldnât show for my shift at the George R Brown Convention Center next Monday.
Does not fit Doltâs re-election narrative-- so, no.
âAs ignorant and unmitigated assholes-- that need to assemble is important, and we are taking every precaution to ensure it is done safely,â said chairman of the Texas Republican Party James Dickey.
GTFOuttamytown.
DamnâŚthe Texas State Fair, which is a huge part of the economy, has been cancelled, but they are still holding convention? @tena
"Forget it, Jake, itâs Texas."
OT but related.
Anti-abortion and anti-LGBT groups got their hands on millions of dollars from the Trump administrationâs coronavirus relief program, according to a report from The Guardian . The groups that pocketed funds include the American Family Associationâwhich has previously blamed the Holocaust on gay peopleâand the American Center for Law & Justice, an anti-abortion group headed by Trumpâs personal attorney Jay Sekulow. Both groups reportedly got between $1-2 million each under the Trump administrationâs Paycheck Protection Program. âWhat weâre seeing with this is a lightyear leap into direct government financing of major Christian right political entities on a scale weâve never seen before,â Frederick Clarkson from Political Research Associates told the newspaper. Pro-choice groups also received moneyâwith Planned Parenthood getting a reported $80 million in PPP loansâbut the government agency that oversees the program later tried to rescind those grants. No similar action was taken to retrieve money from the anti-abortion groups.
Yesâthis is a legacy of Reconstruction, when governors were federally appointed. Once Reconstruction ended, the state constitution was rewritten to make sure governors were basically figureheads. There are stories about Rick Perry, when he was governor, spending his afternoons playing Solitaire on his office computer.
Related to all this: Abbott is in political trouble within his own party re how heâs handling the pandemic; to have appeared live in front of party faithful who now think heâs a nanny-stater in disguise might have made for awkward optics.
Thatâs basically the message being sent. What theyâre really saying but wonât say because they donât want to upset Donnieâs orange-cart is that DR. FAUCI IS RIGHT and we canât risk our own lives being exposed to the virusâŚbut the rest of you can. Theyâre also saying weâre more important for survival than the rest of you.
That Lt. Governor is the biggest asswipe in TX. They do make everything bigger in Texas, donât they?
So theyâre letting the hoi polloi take all the risks and spread the disease. Abbott and Patrick are orchestrating a superspreader event, but theyâll go nowhere near it themselves. Boy, Texas Republican voters are some dumb sumbitches, thatâs all I have to say. Of course, thatâs true of Republican voters in general.
Haha yeah you barely notice what an outrageous hypocrite and coward he is in addition to the sociopathy, he hides it so well.
The fair is in Dallas; the convention will be in Houston. (Houstonâs livestock show and rodeo, the largest in the world, was canceled back in March.)
Even our f^cking idiots are bigger. Way bigger.
They say the quiet parts out loud now⌠itâs all the rage.
