I wonder if that’s the grandfather I heard about who was shot. The grandmother was also shot, but the grandfather was still fighting for his life.

Dayton? Didn’t I hear it was Toledo? Sheesh, if Obama had gotten the city’s name wrong, there would have been impeachment hearings.

WE need to ban civilian possession of any semi-automatic and large cartridges.

Only criminals would have such weapons or gear if their possession was illegal.

Why is Toledo on his mind? If I lived in Toledo I’d be concerned. Is (was) he planning a rally there?

The other thing about the preferred weapons of mass murderers is that they produce what is euphemistically referred to as extensive tissue damage. So a wound that might be survivable if inflicted by a handgun, not so much with an AR or AK clone.

(In the “control the ammunition” scenario, one might be able to leverage this by making lower-velocity rounds available to “target” shooters and ultra-heavily regulating what are now the standard loads.)

Had there been prayer in Texas schools this likely would never have happened. Am I right, Raphael? Greg? Dan? Louie?

I believe, if I understand the NRA’s reading of the Second Amendment, that each citizen can have in his possession a nuclear submarine loaded with long range missiles. Obviously a part of every good citizen’s militia.

Lawn darts were banned following deaths and injuries as a result of playing with them. Toys are routinely taken off the market if deemed unsafe. Guns not so much.

Why quibble about “large” magazines? What more do you need than

  • a revolver to brandish for personal defense
  • a pump-action or double-barrel shotgun for home defense and critters
  • a bolt-action hunting rifle

No external clips or magazines.
