The death toll from a shooting massacre at an El Paso, Texas mall Saturday has increased to 21 — one more than the initial fatality count of 20 — the El Paso Police Department said Monday.
"The controversial website 8chan, allegedly used by the El Paso shooter to post a hate-filled screed before killing people at a Walmart over the weekend, was taken offline Monday."
The other thing about the preferred weapons of mass murderers is that they produce what is euphemistically referred to as extensive tissue damage. So a wound that might be survivable if inflicted by a handgun, not so much with an AR or AK clone.
(In the “control the ammunition” scenario, one might be able to leverage this by making lower-velocity rounds available to “target” shooters and ultra-heavily regulating what are now the standard loads.)
I believe, if I understand the NRA’s reading of the Second Amendment, that each citizen can have in his possession a nuclear submarine loaded with long range missiles. Obviously a part of every good citizen’s militia.
Lawn darts were banned following deaths and injuries as a result of playing with them. Toys are routinely taken off the market if deemed unsafe. Guns not so much.
