We’re much too cool for that.
Plus if using our own pots and pans means that the merchandising opportunities are negligible, it’s not going to happen.

Because there’s always a number of Texans visiting Mexico on Wednesdays?
We do seem to be too cool. I was at a vigil/meeting in my neighborhood last night with my son, who is in his early 20s. He was talking to me about how he could see a large gap between the horror of what’s going on, and the relative complacency and quiet among good people in the general population. I found myself describing the uproar there had been in the late 60s and early 70s…and realizing that he was absolutely right.
My “too cool for that” was an over-simplification, I admit, but perhaps not by much.
Or he’s a coward hiding behind “requirement of the protocols of the office…” This president is illegitimate. None of the mayor’s required protocols apply. I guess we’ll have to wait to see what the citizens of El Paso have to say - after we’re enlightened by the media’s analysis of what the citizens of El Paso had to say.
Be rather interesting if no-one turned up .
“Coward” is a strong word during election season, but there’s this:
[Jake TAPPER] “Former Congressman from El Paso, Beto O’Rourke, told me earlier in the show that, in his view, the president’s anti-immigrant rhetoric is making things worse and creating an atmosphere of violence. Do you agree? Do you have any concerns about the things President Trump says about immigrants?”
[Dee MARGO] “Jake, I’m not qualified to make a comment on that. I’m not a talking head. I’m focusing on the El Pasoans and the 20 deaths, their families and what it means to this community and how we can come together and not be victimized by this. … This will not define us. We are a unique region that’s been here for 350 years. There’s families on both sides. There’s commerce on both sides. We’re bi-national and bi-cultural. We’re almost 2.5 million people and our average age is 32. This will not define us.”
[…]
[TAPPER] “The Texas Land Commissioner, George P. Bush, said in a statement that ‘white terrorism’ is a ‘real and present threat that we must all denounce and defeat.’ Do you agree that white terrorism is a threat to the United States?”
[MARGO] “Jake, I’m not qualified to respond to that anymore than the previous question … I’m focusing on El Paso. There’s evil in this world and it’s unfortunate.”
It’s a line from “Spaceballs”. But thanks for the lecture, hunny.
This is the interesting and enlightening discussion I fully expected, and I thank you as well.
Or he’s a brain-eating alien from the beyond the moon and it’s all part of a conspiracy to enslave the earth. There are so many possibilities.
I don’t know from “Spaceballs” so … what did you mean by quoting it?
I’m certain the official mayor will greet Elevator Fart with an official hug to show him that there are (officially) no hard feelings … extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures, but I guess Official Mayor just isn’t up to it.
I would probably only repeat what somebody already said about this idiot.
But I wonder if anyone thought about filling a brown paper bag with " **** " and made sure it hit him right square in the face.
a picture worth a lifetime of thoughts. good ones even.
Who’s going to lead this country is the real question (IMO). Little acts of defiance and courage can go a long way. It’s what we did during Vietnam. Constant protesting in small towns and big cities made a difference. There’s nothing to discuss. The president bears some responsibility for these massacres. He should be shouted down and not allowed to finish one sentence.
Both of our sons were in high school during the Columbine high school massacre. It didn’t change
America’s gun culture 1%. And the culture has to change, but it won’t w/o leadership and a political trifecta in 2020. What we did to the tobacco industry we can do to the gun industry.
And Jake Tapper can fuck off as well as MARGO.
He’s a Republican up for re-election in the era of Trump.
Enough said.
Wild observation, but I’m not liking Official Mayor’s chances after Wednesday …
Well there’s that too as well , feeling a bit enslaved myself (and I got it better than most). but all I really want to see is more and constant open defiance across the country, as well as in Washington - as we wait for a leader. Yeah, I know but hope goes a long way under these circumstances.

And that’s why it’s called Profiles in Courage - you can’t rearrange it the way you want it.
Would be great if behind the police line there are silent lines of folks all with their backs to him. Yes, he’ll be blind and also speak of the crowds that “like” him but for the rest of the world it would speak volumes.
