Eastman replied no, and added that the stakes of 2020 represented an “existential threat to the very survivability, not just of our nation, but of the example that our nation, properly understood, provides to the world.”
There’s the tell: “Properly understood” = “In my opinion”.
Also feels super MAGA aging white guy, as properly understood.

Eastman buried Trump here, and he, too, will catch a case.

Probably the thing that angers me the most about TFG and the media is that they give/gave airtime to someone who obviously was unqualified AND brought the dregs and conspiracy wackos out from the fringes. At any other time, we’d never hear from or about people like Eastman and all of the others that are in TFG’s orbit.

This guy needs some serious therapy. The delusions are so strong and he very nearly allowed his delusions to destroy the nation.
And he’s unrepentant. He would do it again tomorrow, if offered the chance.

Do you have to bring him back?

Sorry to keep posting. I just can’t get over this. These people are epic.
Eastman, Trump’s co-conspirator, cites the Declaration as justifying his attempt to “abolish” our current government. You know, the one whose founding document and highest law is the U.S. Constitution.
That presents a wee problem to Trumpworld’s claims that his First Amendment right to free speech are bein’ oppressed.

In an interview released on Thursday, John Eastman restated that he’s an unreconstructed believer that the 2020 election was stolen by the left.
John Eastman, of course, is a liar not a believer. No lie too big, no lie too small, just like with Donnie.

So, please educate me…I was unaware of the “JFK stole the election from Nixon” article of faith. Is that a general requirement for The Right?

Hmmm… The Declaration of Independence – essentially a letter of grievance – claims that it’s a self-evident truth that “…whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these Ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government…”
On the other hand, the Constitution of the United States – a legal document, rather than a letter of grievance – says that “Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort.”
Gee… Which document has the final say on the matter of overthrowing the Government? Hard call… a real conundrum, if you will… but I’m going with the Constitution. That, and the fact that John didn’t see fit to paraphrase any of the other parts of the Declaration.

Shorter Eastman: “we must kill democracy in this country before the ‘left’ that exists only in my tiny lizard brain kills it first.”

He’s a liar, first and foremost.

Evidence, evidence, evidence. There is a total lack of evidence for Trump’s assertions. Eastman can’t point to any evidence to support his assertion that his sedition is justified. There was more evidence in Kennedy/Nixon or Bush/Gore. According to everything I have seen the 2020 election was the cleanest of all time.

Well, I think Trumpworld is referring to the First Amendment of the Declaration of Independence. Article VIII, if I recall.

Classic case of old guy not familiar enough with the Internet, who thinks that what he says in an interview with a rightwing think tank will go no further than that.

This interview seems sure to come up when his bar licensure hearing resumes later this month.

It was a thing back in the 80s, something about how all those votes in Chicago for Kennedy must have been fraudulent. Sound familiar?

But an inveterate, unrepentant liar is critically dangerous to everyone around them.
That he’s out there, still harping on his lies and getting massive attention for doing so, is a serious problem.
