“Guilt ridden” carries a connotation that he feels bad about what he’s done, and that’s pretty clearly not true.
He feels bad about facing consequences for his actions, but he doesn’t feel bad about his actions.

The judge clearly saw the actions for what they were and are … and now Eastman wants the judge to smudge up his glasses to severely blurry and look at it again and give Eastman a pass.
Eastman -when initiating an argument is strident, haughty, obnoxious, insulting , nasty, gratuitously aggressive … but now when called out - caught - red handed - he wails for mercy like an aggrieved child.
