This is all true as far as it goes but the D’s need to have the vision and the stones to abolish the debt ceiling in the reconciliation bill – or if that’s not technically possible, raise it to a point that it’s not going to be breached for another 50 years. We’re probably going to get wiped out in the midterms anyway so let’s do everything we can, while we can.

The Radical Racist Reactionary Party is a corrupt enterprise and ever-unfolding RICO crime scene and should be abolished. Let a new, actually conservative party rise from the ashes as a political home for actual conservatives, y’know, reasonable people who love their kids and don’t want to actually kill their neighbors, but just like their pace of change a little bit slower? Their kind are a third of any human population, it’s best to acknowledge that and give them a place to belong and participate that isn’t just a hollow cavern echoing with lies.
Meanwhile I’m guessing McTurtle is hearing from the over-moneyed who fund the RRR’s campaigns, they aren’t finding good enough places in the stock market to park their trainloads of cash, they like the security of gov’t debt, it just doesn’t pay that well. Even after a near-default and a partial downgrade, a T-bill will still be the safest investment they can hold, and they’re stupid enough to believe the RRR’s self-actuating lie that mega-inflation is just around the corner. They’ll be happy to take the slightly increased risk in favor of a higher rate on 10-year bonds.
