This all reminds me of this early episode in the Trump Show.
In 2017, U.S. media reported that in June 2016, with Emin acting as an intermediary, the son of the U.S. president, Donald Trump Jr., met with Natalia Veselnitskaya, a Russian lawyer, expecting her to provide compromising material on Hillary Clinton. Trump Jr. later stated that Veselnitskaya did not have any meaningful information. In addition, media outlets reported that earlier, Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika and businessman Aras Agalarov, Emin’s father, had discussed at one of their meetings the possibility of transferring compromising material on Clinton. This meeting is one of the episodes examined in Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the U.S. presidential election.[18][19][20]

All of this as Don Sr. denied, denied, denied any Russian connections and associations. As we saw, and the world seems to have forgotten, that was a bunch of hooey.

If you speculated 40 years ago that Russia and its KGB president would successfully infiltrate a major US political party, the NRA, the Heritage Foundation, and ultimately Congress and executive agencies right on up to the top, including such jobs as National Security Adviser, and even funding wedding parties for money-laundering presidential offspring, you would have been ignored or diverted to an AA program. By 2017, we heard Republicans praising Putin for punching way above his weight. Yesterday we got to witness what a sorry mess of dick-lickers the GOP has become. No pushback at the rantings of a demented and deranged leader, no comment on how the other 200 countries in the world now perceive the US. And of course, it’s Ukraine’s fault.
Putin is normally happy when oil prices are up, his government budget balances at around $110 a barrel for Urals. Similarly, American oil companies, who now pump over half the national production from the Permian basin, want an oil price of $80 or above to reap earnings before life gets too complicated by decarbonization efforts. Trump has delivered. WTI is around $90 a barrel at the moment, and Saudi, Iran and Russia just have to roll with prices when their export volumes are impaired by wars (the things Trump says he stops so often). So, perfect conditions achieved, but there’s a fly in the ointment. Both Putin and Trump won’t be around to enjoy their windfalls because they over-cranked the chaos that originally redounded to their enrichment and political benefit. Which leaves Xi, who just met with Trump, and the traditional Chinese joke.

The FBI jobs website was defaced and taken offline after a cybercriminal group claimed it had accessed personnel systems holding data on every current, former, and prospective FBI employee. No official FBI confirmation of any database leak has been identified in the sources reviewed.
ShinyHunters told 404 Media it holds sensitive records on all FBI employees and applicants. The FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center issued a May 2026 public service announcement describing ShinyHunters as a cybercriminal group involved in large-scale data theft and extortion.

Most reporting on Trump’s speech emphasized either his belligerence — his rejection of global cooperation — or the fact that almost everything he said was a lie. But isn’t the bigger story the fact that the leader of what used to be the world’s most powerful nation — I say “used to be” because America’s power is collapsing before our eyes — has clearly and undeniably lost his mind?

I can find no verification of the Putin part of this story.

The Times reported that the president “signed off” on his son’s statement, but Trump’s lawyer, Jay Sekulow, repeatedly denied that through the rest of that month. On July 31, 2017, The Washington Post reported that the president “personally dictated a statement in which Trump Jr. said that he and the Russian lawyer had primarily discussed a program about the adoption of Russian children” at the Trump Tower meeting.
