It’s Maine’s problem, not Vermont’s. The only thing hordes of Canadians show up for in Vermont is to to storm the lower-priced liquoe stores. In Maine, the Quebecois hordes, who think that Maine beaches have warm water (OK, so it’s warmer than Labrador) all head into Old Orchard Beach. The real shock for them, though, is when they encounter the considerable number of Quebec-descended Paul LePage supporters, who are itching to shoot a furriner.

He did do it right, then. The Spaceman was not like any ordinary MLB drughead. More of a cross between Hunter Thompson, Willy Nelson, and Timothy Leary. Not bad company to be in; I wish Dubya had kept that crew on as white house advisors.

Yep. We have a place in central Maine, and know only too well the unmistakably Gallic driving styles of those hordes headed south on Rte 26 and 202. Sigh. But then their money’s green too (well some of it…in places).
God, we would have been spared so much.

Aquariums were a fairly popular economic development tool in a number of cities in the 80’s and 90’s. They were used to attract people to downtown areas and keep them from becoming stagnant.
Convention centers have tended to be white elephants because they can sit empty for weeks at a time when people can use neighboring hotels for exhibits and trade shows.
