Domino Effect: Romney Predicts More GOP Sens Will Publicly Accept Reality After McConnell

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) on Tuesday predicted that there will be a domino effect of more Republicans finally publicly acknowledging President-elect Joe Biden’s victory after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) arrived on Planet Earth to congratulate Biden during a floor speech, a day after the Electoral College sealed Biden’s victory.

Well, if Romney says it, just about no one ever is going to listen.

I appreciate the characterization.
Two noteworthy asides.

  1. I’m working nonstop on a project for hours then glance up to see TPM has brought us gold, gold I say. Thanks, TPM.
  2. No one besides Romney could have articulated such a watered-down rebuke.

Romney looks as if his Preparation-H is wearing off.

Sorry - didn’t realize I replying to someone. I thought it was a stand alone post.

That this is even a “thing” is so patently absurd.

This demonstrates how successful Trump has been at lowering the bar.

At this point - acknowledging reality is something to be memorialized.

the Senate majority leader and his leadership team reportedly urged fellow Republicans on a conference call against participating in any efforts to object to certifying Biden’s presidential victory in the Jan. 6 joint session

Why does McConnell, a stalwart defender of Trump’s rights to look into allegations of irregularities and weigh his legal options, want to deny his flock their statutory right to contest this fraudulent election?

I predict that more GOP Senators will switch to Hunter Biden investigations or whatever bad faith nonsense is currently in vogue. That will be the closest we get to a “public acceptance” of Biden’s win by many GOP Senators.

Wow, we might reach an acceptance-of-reality rate among GOP senators of ten percent by the end of the week. That would be awesome.

Yes, you’re probably right. Burisma! Biden! Maybe even Benghazi again.

“The continued attack on our elections system and the calls that suggest that it’s been fraudulent or stolen — that these things are not accurate, they’re not true, there’s been no evidence of substantial fraud of the nature that would be necessary to overturn an election,” Romney said…

Ideally, enough senators would jump on board with Romney to make Donnie so vindictive he’d just have to act – turn on the party and screw with their chances in Georgia.
I’m not gonna hold my breath waiting for it to happen, but since they chose such a small man to be their leader, now they’ve gotta live with the heartburn that comes with having him there.
I hate to say that they were told, but Schiff warned them they’d come to this pass.

az02132, you’re absolutely right. The bar for leadership is so low that Romney’s hat-tip to the real world looks like leadership.

To be fair, Trump’s only small in terms of personality, morals and intellect, and is biggly hoooge in physical terms.

Graham cracker added that Trump now has a “very, very narrow path” for a second term.

Through a valley far away,
Nobody else can walk it for you,
They can only point the way.
