The Justice Department argued on Tuesday that Jan. 6 defendants shouldn’t be allowed to delay their upcoming criminal trials based on speculation that the 40,000-plus hours of security footage House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) recently made available exclusively to Fox News’s Tucker Carlson might contain exculpatory evidence.
If this wasn’t one of the aims of McCarthy in handing the videos over to Tucker Carlson, I would be astonished. Republicans are doing everything they can to muddy the waters around January 6, and to a certain extent it’s working, at least among Republicans.
Since I believe the metal detectors are no longer in place in the House Chamber, if there was another January 6 type event, there’s no way any Democrats should turn their backs on their Republican colleagues. Greene has already said next time they’ll be armed.
McCarthy says he released the footage to Tucker in the interest of transparency. I would posit that nothing could be as transparent as the footage showing McCarthy shitting his pants while desperately trying to get DT to call off his mob.
Tucker knew he would look bad when his texts came out, and he worked on a distraction that also lured back viewers who had strayed from the one true station under God.
Things are not going well for the Idiot Boys in Judge Kelly’s courtroom. For the past two days, the jury has been treated to a wealth of video evidence, mostly provided by the Idiot Boys themselves, from their dumb phones. The best bit was yesterday morning when one defendant yelled “fuck them (the Capitol Police). Storm the Capitol!”
