Wow. That came out of left field.

I hope the Judge tell them to stay in their lane. But, if not, maybe DOJ can help me in local traffic court next time I get a speeding ticket?

Berman is the attorney who at long last brought charges against Jeffrey Epstein when no one else anywhere would. IANAL but it seems all the i’s need to be dotted and t’s crossed so the case doesn’t get tossed because of irregularities due to haste.

The 16-page court filing — signed by U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Geoffrey Berman — asks a judge to allot enough time to allow “considered deliberation” in the case.

It’s really difficult to see how they can try to defend this…NYS is looking into Trump’s business practices and needs to have his tax returns. This is the same as for any other business investigation, and any other person would be required to turn the tax forms over. Trump becoming president doesn’t give him some kind of superpower to ignore all investigations, especially those of his business or personal interests…the Clinton investigations are the precedent that should rule this. And, I have no doubt that the exact opposite argument would be made about president Hillary Clinton.

At some point Republicans are going to pay for how they have run roughshod over the Constitution in their quest for absolute power…hopefully 2020 is the year.

Shameful.

This doesn’t help him at all. NYS will not take kindly to Barr trying to get involved. NY DA ought to laugh in Barr’s jowly face.

Yes it is. The POS sitting in the Oval Office took a very public job. He should have to live up to what all other government employees are required to do, i.e., make financial disclosures to ensure that we’re living up to the standards required of us. If he’s unwilling to do this, he can either step down or be compelled to produce his financial records.

It just means that Berman has been compromised and is being driven into the fold.

It’s a NY case involving NY laws. The appropriate venue is in State courts.

This attempt to switch it to the Federal courts is so Barr can fuck with it.

I’m not a lawyer, as I said, and neither do I instantly accept conspiracy theories. I’ll leave that to other people.

So much for SDNY independence.

Doesn’t have to be a conspiracy theory. Just throw out the first line, then. It’s still a NY case involving a NY business and NY laws. The Feds don’t get into that shit.

Does anyone know what progress the Ways & Means Committee’s request is making in the Federal court?

IANAL, but I fail to see where SDNY has standing to interfere in a state case.

This reeks to high heaven.

DOJ Takes Trump’s Side In NY DA Tax Return Fight

Well, of course they did. The US Department of Justice is now Donald Trump’s personal legal team. And he doesn’t have to pay a dime for them – it all comes out of taxpayer money.

They won’t.

Yes. Disclosure of tax returns is not a burdensome requirement. Modern presidents routinely disclose tax returns when in office. It doesn’t make the wheels of government fall off. This intervention is purely political and purely designed to exert illegitimate pressure on the court and to run the clock in the hope that the Trump-Roberts Court will do the traitor a favor, which they won’t, 6-3.
