First, why do I not know this name-- ‘Colonel Phil Waldron’?
And further, am not seeing any reference to him in the 8-month-old Guardian article he’s linked to (by Raw Story)–
You’d think with a coup roadmap-- the 36-slide Powerpoint presentation-- it might be the highlight of tomorrow’s hearing? Maybe?

You know, it’s bad enough to 'shop a crowd into this photo in this clumsy, obvious way. But JFC everyone there had a very capable stills and video imaging system right in their damn pocket. Trump’s problem is if it’s good enough for his own stupid ass, he thinks it’s going to be effective with everyone. He’s like a child, and not an especially bright child.

Many people have no idea what a president can and cannot do. Too often, I have heard people whine about why Biden will not do anything about gas prices. (Maybe he just forgot to pull that lever, or flip that switch?) It concerns me greatly that there is such little knowledge and understanding of the complexities of markets and the political process. A president cannot rule by edict. Minus those dictatorial powers, Biden cannot make life easier for everyone in every single way.

According to ABC News’ Alexander Mallin, “Prosecutors say that Clark confirmed, in the interview, that at no point did Trump ever invoke executive privilege over Bannon’s testimony — and directly contradicted other claims made by Bannon’s defense team in their case. They further suggest Bannon’s recent efforts in conjunction with Trump to offer to finally testify before the House committee investigating the January 6 Capitol attack are no more than a stunt to try and make him more a sympathetic figure to the jury he’s set to face next week.”

I read that earlier today. It makes sense to me that younger Democrats don’t relate to Biden and want someone who doesn’t look and sound like Grandpa. That’s only natural. “Optics” matter in an election, and it’s not going to be a good look on the debate stage if the GOP nominates DeSantis who is half Biden’s age. Can’t blame younger voters for wanting some fresh blood in the party.
I don’t think most of the people quoted in that article said they were switching their vote to Republican (maybe one did?). They said they’d vote for Biden over Trump if both run again. And yeah, a lot of the “country heading in the wrong direction” stuff is people freaked out about inflation, which Biden can’t do anything about.
But I think the NYT poll is probably accurate with respect to a majority of Dems in that poll preferring a different candidate in 2024. That doesn’t surprise me at all.

I suppose it goes without saying that a live public appearance would be catnip to an attention-obsessed conspiracy-monger like Bannon. It would be rewarding him for his obstruction. Of course Trump would waive his nonexistent privilege. Just smash the SOB in his mouth and knock out five or six teeth—all impartially and with due process, certainly, but hard. After all this time I think we’re all tired of his ass.
