Justice Department investigators looking into the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection are now looking at the planning for the pro-Trump rally at the Ellipse that took place before a mob of Trump supporters ransacked Capitol grounds, according to the Washington Post and the New York Times.
People typically accept the idea of patriotic sacrifice in times of war. Germany has declared a national gas warning and is encouraging people and firms to reduce energy consumption where possible and will resort to rationing as needed. The US, which accounts for about 18% of primary energy consumption globally, could make a large impact through reducing consumption. Rather than rely exclusively on the pricing mechanism, shared sacrifice seems like a viable message at this point.
