the Trump administration’s assault on citizenship

Actually, the Trump assault on focus.

It’s a distraction from Donald’s thefts.

The Trump administration is well stocked with people who know and understand the lessons of history. The period from 1775-1783 shows what can happen if you don’t round up and deport every person who poses a potential danger to national security. Left unchecked, they may advocate rebellion against “the establishment of an absolute Tyranny.”

Bartiromo: “We are waiting any moment now to get the jobs number for the month of June. The expectations call for the numbers to be up 95,000. Right now seeing the number – actually, uh, showing a decline in jobs, uh, down 33,000, uh.”

Uh… check that… uh…

I wonder what horrible, no good person, who was naturalized in 1965 did to the poor Claremont Institute donor Charles Haywood?
And again how will this affect the children of someone who was naturalized in 1965 to the present day?
And just for clarification the Google states that Hamas was founded in 1987. So who is it that was naturalized in 1965 that vocally supported Hamas in '65?

Damn that puts me in the crosshairs. I wonder if my German Hessian forefather cancels out my Revolutionary War fighter ancestor?
I wonder when these RW institutions and Stephen Miller turn their eyes to the participants of the War of Northern Aggression?

In case any Democrats of value are reading this, here’s how you fight back.

You make it explicit that this is not a one-way fight. That anyone, and we mean anyone in any capacity helps this felon commit crimes and you will be prosecuted. That goes for every masked ICE agent currently abducting people illegally off the streets who will all be charged with kidnapping, a capitol crime, all the way to even a junior lawyer at the DOJ who so much as wrote a memo supporting this. We will never stop, we will hunt every one of you down and we will destroy your lives. Period. There will be no pleas, no excuses. We learned 80 years ago that “I was just following orders” is bullshit. So, be very, very careful about what actions you take today, because you will regret them when you’re sitting in a prison cell for 25 years. All of you will face judgement.

That’s how you fucking fight back. That’s how you put the fear of god into them. Scare the shit out of them and watch them crawl away.

See if you can tell when Democrats ran the White House.

Isn’t it quaint that people are still relying on precedent to make themselves believe that these things won’t happen and expand and get worse? The naivete is off the charts.

so, this is me… I’m a naturalized citizen, who’s been fairly uncharitable to trump and the right wing generally over the years (more than two decades living in the states, and more than 15 as a citizen. I’m law abiding, but I vote democratic down the line. I’m married to a natural born citizen, and have a natural born citizen son. I’m actually starting to get a bit concerned about what may happen. my whole life is here, my business is here, and I don’t want to go anywhere else, but i sure as shit don’t want to have to sit on the sidelines and shut up like a second class citizen and watch this pack of goons destroy the country over their racism and generalized psychopathy.

If someone loses their citizenship, were they still a citizen at the time of their child’s birth for the purpose of conveying non-birthright citizenship? What about grandchildren?
My husband is adopted; closed adoption of course because this was back in the day. He has no way of proving that his birth parents were citizens. Birthright citizenship (14th Amendment) solves a hundred different problems, anywhere from issuing Social Security numbers to clarifying status for anyone who can’t trace their lineage back to the American Revolution.

WTF? How in the world did you get that I was in any way calling for violence? I’m calling out their cruelty and pointing out that relying on precedent as a means of protection seems foolish. What are you even talking about?

Yeah this is what worries me. Once you start stripping citizenship from naturalized citizens then where will it stop? I mean if someone who isn’t a naturalized citizen commits a crime they get convicted served time. But when they are released will DonOLD strip them of their citizenship?
I mean if someone commits a crime and goes through the process of trial, jail/prison, then what difference does it make if they were born a citizen of parents who are citizens vs someone who went through the process of becoming a citizen?

"… Claremont Institute donor Charles Haywood, pushed a national “review” of everyone naturalized since 1965.

But the June DOJ memo’s language around terrorism and national security threats is incredibly broad. In the world of the memo, “pos[ing] a potential danger to national security” is enough to merit a review of your citizenship application. It raises concerns that the DOJ will seek to use claims that a person poses such a danger to accuse naturalized Americans of omitting key information on their citizenship applications,"

My wife was FOTB as a 9 year old in '72. No doubt that they would accuse her of withholding information. She’s actually worried about it.

Pretty sure that Ilhan Omar will be the test case.

But if a test case succeeds and then the MAGA wave gets reversed, it should be used on Musk and Thiel before we bring the situation back to where we were.

I’m disgusted by the immigrants who came for the opportunities, and now want to turn this country into some version of the places that they left.

I’ll get heat for this but go ahead and give me your reasons…

I agree with this. If you want to de-Trumpism America, you need to follow the Nuremberg playbook and put all the politicos and officials of the Trump administration permanently out of public life. That means prosecution for illegal acts, debarrnent and prohibition from any political activities - especially running for office. Not sure how to do this but the Judiciary’s tolerance of Trumpism has (theoretically) made it a lot easier to do than it was ten years ago. You just need the Presidency and compliant Court to make it all happen.
