The Justice Department reached an agreement Tuesday with the groups challenging the census citizenship question in New York on language permanently blocking the question from being added to the 2020 census.

“The private groups, which are represented by the ACLU, are expected to say by Tuesday whether or not they are pursuing sanctions against certain witnesses they previously accused of lying in their testimony.”

Will that include the lying President?
Oh, wait. He slipped and told the truth, said that the question was intended to facilitate redistricting…

I don’t see anything about the DOJ having to get down and eat some literal dirt but I guess that’s more when one kid kick’s another’s ass than it is at the end of a lawsuit. So, in the scheme of things, abject enough.

Don’t see the President enjoined, just Commerce and the Census Bureau.

…So he could just use a different agency to run the census, complete with citizenship question…

The only mandatory part of the Census should be the number of humans. All the other survey crap should be optional and separate, so that the count is as accurate and timely as possible.

Nope. He has no such authority.

Whipped like a dog by the ACLU. And by states. All fifty of Trump’s united states couldn’t beat one of them. Low-energy and sad.

Please continue the good fight and hold those who committed perjury responsible for their actions. We came within a whisker of a blatantly illegitimate Census count because of lies by people at the very highest levels of government. This can’t stand.

Meanwhile starting to hear about states failing to invest in getting an accurate census. TX was mentioned, wondering who the other states are.

Good! Perhaps Virginia will pick up a seat instead.

Boom! Yet another “bench slap” of Toadglans and his “administration.” McConnell has not completely succeeded in destroying the Federal judiciary.

I hope this judge severely sanctions every liar mentioned.

He already has the National Emergency proclamation at the southwestern border. Why not use that self-delegated authority to have Department of Homeland Security run the Census, backed by the Department of Defense?

I know the enabling laws for the Constitutionally mandated census specify that department, but this is an age of royal decree, not the rule of law.

Genius part is that the laws don’t block a different agency from also conducting their own census…

(I really should go work for the Republicans. They’ve got a lot more money and with my ideas, I could really get them some progress)

I really hope they do. Criminal acts by powerful people need to be punished.

He would be enjoined in a New York minute. His appeal would anger Roberts. I’d like to see him try it. He’d be sorry.
