DOJ Makes Clear That Trump’s Pardon Of Flynn Is Breathtakingly Sweeping | Talking Points Memo

In notifying Michael Flynn’s judge that the former national security adviser had been pardoned last week by President Trump, the Justice Department went out of its way to make clear that it covered any of his potentially criminal conduct that had been probed in recent years.

Sidney Powell is crazy as a loon.
If ever Barr thought he was not corrupt (unlikely), dealing with her as an accomplice for this case should tell him otherwise. And of course Trump is crazy also.

Of course everyone always thinks that they’re the good guys, and I don’t think Barr is in the cult, so I do wonder what goes on in that guy’s head.

I hope Judge Sullivan challenges this pardon as to scope. We need some discussion of the pardon. The entire pardon is connected to Trump’s self interest and should be void on its face. The ‘everything under the sun’ portion of the pardon should be scrutinized because this is the type of language Trump will use in a self-pardon or if he resigns and has Pence execute one in his favor. I don’t think that portion is legitimate at all, even if you ignore the obvious self-interested nature of pardoning Flynn for the specific crime of false statements.

OK. Now the Biden DOJ can compel his testimony for other matters, and charge him with perjury if he lies again.

Ok, so now Flynn is free to testify about everything for which this pardon just eliminated the possibility of self-incrimination. But in that testimony, he is criminally liable for any perjury he may commit. In bribing Flynn not to rat him out, Trump has just opened a pathway for Flynn to rat him out without suffering any legal consequences. Flynn has already shown amply that he is not a man of his word, so Trump has reason to be nervous. And if I was K.T. McFarland, I might be a little nervous, too.
Will the Biden administration roll these sons of bitches up? Fingers crossed.

So thanks to Trump’s colossal screw-up on COVID, I’ve spent more time under house arrest than Flynn.

He lied, we know it, and we don’t give a shit.

On those other matters, he would still have recourse to the Fifth Amendment.

Let’s hope they forget about junior Flynn until 1/21/21.

Seems reasonable to me. What’s your point?

I can’t wait until the Biden DOJ starts contesting pardons, like Flynn’s, because they were issued to cover up Toadglans’ own crimes. Surely that can’t be legal. And if it is, he may as well be a monarch.

Kinda what I’m wondering. Did they make the pardon language actually broad enough that it covers the underlying treason, or just the lying about it…

Maybe judge Sullivan should ponder over that until 1201 PM on January 20th before issuing a ruling.

Now that the election is over, I think it’s high time for the courts to weigh in on the scope of the Presidential pardon power. Trump has pushed the envelope to the edge. It should be scrutinized so that we have clarity for the future. Is the Presidency essentially a ‘get out of jail free’ card?

5-4 says yes, unless Biden tries it…

Did Trump pardon Flynn’s son too?
Cuz’ sometimes? Karma and Irony do this tag-team thing that makes Hubris shrink like a penis in a cold swimming pool.

When does Barr get his pardon?

Judge sullivan to DOJ: show me the fucking pardon, with the pointy-head kkk crowd signature.

Barr got his right before he was sworn in.

Just a blank page with Trump’s signature at the bottom, so he could fill it out as things went.

This guy doesn’t think it so “breathtakingly sweeping”

Well, if you are going to ignore the law, you should be thorough about it.
