Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz will release his report about the origins of the Trump-Russia investigation on Dec. 9, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) told Fox News’s Sean Hannity Wednesday evening.
I am sure it will take a 500 page report to say it was appropriate. I hope Lindsey is not tied up in an impeachment trial at the time. He may be called as a witness while being a juror.

Wonder if this Report and Durham’s investigation are really a thing, news of them seem to pop up whenever things get to hot to the Dotartd, so maybe Barr is just making it all up and just talks of it’s eminent release and the upgrade to “criminal” investigations whenever the Fox News crowd runs out of talking point to sooth the Imbecile in Chief
If this report was going to be anything other than Trumpist bullshit, Barr would have killed it already.

That is a fair point too. Just because Lindsey Graham says there’s a report coming on a date certain does not make it so. It’s entirely possible that the report is a chimera.

It’s obviously meant to distract from and undermine not just this specific impeachment proceeding but Dems’ overall accusations against Trump & Co. regarding Russia, 2016, collusion, obstruction, etc. And it will just as obviously be a bullshit report.
My guess is that it won’t be quite as damning as Repubs would like, because the supporting facts just aren’t there and they dare not make some up because they know that Dems and the media will uncover them and use it to discredit it.
But it will try to push the facts and fudge others to prove that it was all a hoax based on Dems’ desire to damage Trump & Repubs, but be vague enough to it’ll be hard to substantively criticize it.
It’ll be kind of a hit and run hack job, with bits and pieces of damning-seeming facts that don’t really amount to much but can be woven together to fabricate a hit job, exploiting the inevitable minor errors and mistakes made during all investigations to try to discredit the investigations themselves.
I predict that it’ll last a news cycle or two and maybe hurt Dems temporarily, but whatever effect it has will quickly fade as impeachment resumes its place at the center of media coverage of all this. If anything it might end up hurting Trump & Repubs as Dems and the media take it apart and show how they lied or really pushed the truth to make their case.
Dems also need to re-examine the circumstances behind the late October 2016 Comey letter that allowed Trump to eke out a very narrow fake win. That’s the other real scandal regarding the 2016 election, arguably even worse than Russian tampering and collusion but probably linked to it. Perhaps that’s part of what the SDNY investigation into Rudy & Co. is all about? Inshallah!
This is their counter-strike to the impeachment hearings. This is why Nunes has been carrying water for the Russians all this time. He’ keeping the conspiracy in the discussion. As the impeachment hearing begins to tighten the noose - this ‘report’ will come out. It will ‘not negate’ the possibility it’s all a Ukrainian/Dem ‘self-own’.
The FoxBots will eat it up. The Senate will hang their hopes - and the verdict on it.
Barr will land the plane.
That sound cynical - but it’s pretty obvious. It’s not that the impeachment hearing are pointless - far from it. I’ve never thought it likely he’d be removed - it was a matter of protecting the constitution and separation of powers.
It will be a hell of a year coming up to the elections.
This is a serious challenge on many levels.
The DOJ will promote this as the equivalent of the impeachment hearings, and the press, out of its commitment to both-sidersism, will at first play it that way. FOX will cover it as debunking the impeachment hearing and call for an inquisition. Facebook and other social media will be inundated with posts saying “this make me wonder if any body in the American politics can trustworthiness!”
So the challenge will be if our politics and our media, possess the antibodies left to stave this off.
