This reminds me of a National Science Foundation grant proposal I submitted a long time ago that was bounced back at me because I listed publications based on a prior grant going back more than 3 years (said instructions to limit them were new and buried deep in many pages of instructions). The citations had their dates on them so it wasn’t like I was trying to cheat but I had to wait until the next grant cycle (1 year) to submit. They did not have enough money to fund more than 10% of applicants so they had a roomful of clerks looking for something, anything that wasn’t done according to their instructions (which changed every cycle). I am so glad I don’t have to put up with that crap anymore. So, anyway, yeah, you can always find something “wrong” with the paperwork.

This is obviously a corrupt and treacherous inquiry that undermines the DOJ even further. It does, however, illustrate another basic point of political difference, which is that Republicans do not hesitate to plow into controversial territory and get their way. It’s significant, because if Dems get back into power, it will be necessary to deNazify and purge the DOJ systematically, and push for the prosecution of Barr and any other flunky who broke the rules in any way. We need to see people fired and if possible put on trial and locked up, no matter how partisan this may be seen. It’s them or us.

Right wing sites say there was a letter from a State Department person to the FBI that said some nice things about Carter Page. The letter was not included in the first FISA warrant so all four FISA warrants were illegally obtained.

I saw Cynthia Alksne, federal prosecutor, interviewed last night. She said she’s been proud of her job in the DOJ her entire career, but she is now ashamed to be associated with the department. She said the corruption and disregard for process is deepening and widening, and she no longer has hope that it can ever be restored to its former status. Not a very heartening message . . . .

The other worry is that it’s not even a talking point for House Dems who have the duty to deal with this crap but constrain themselves out of a misguided sense that a certain decorum is called for. “The DOJ is now on the side of Republican criminals” is not a controversial statement as such. It refers to a controversial state of affairs. We’ve had a worsening constitutional crisis on the rule of law with Barr as the chief wrongdoer. Put the fucker under some pressure, he won’t like it. Put all DOJ staff on notice that as soon as a legitimate A-G is back in office, all of their actions will be scrutinized.

As far as I am concerned there is no legitiment Justice Dept, or Presidency, or any other Department in Government including some of the courts.

Congressional Republicans, who requested the review, have long said that the FBI did not follow proper protocol because it used the Steele Dossier as part of its warrant application without disclosing the document’s ties to Democratic groups.
At what point did the Republican-commissioned document become Democratic, and at what point did its solid conclusions become hogwash? Show your work.

Russian assassins are roaming our neighborhoods. Republican Congressmen are threatening citizens with physical harm. Republican-controlled state legislatures are deliberately blocking our elected representatives and eligible citizens from voting. While Donald Trump purposely terrorizes children as a way to control whole communities.
