The Justice Department just took its crusade against John Bolton’s book to 11.
On Wednesday evening, after news outlets started reporting on some of the book’s most damning revelations, the Justice Department filed in court an emergency request to block the publication of the tell-all.
Utter and complete bullshit. Both Ellis and Ratcliffe were appointed by Trump, making them complete toadies. I hope the court throws this out asap. Besides, some of the juicy bits have already been published by the Times and the Post. That horse done left the barn.

Please arrest Bolton, that would be great. Trump would drop 10 points in the polls. Bolton could easily post bond, and charges would eventually be dropped since Trump and Barr don’t control juries.
Golly, it would have been nice if Mr Walrus had testified at the impeachment hearings. FU Bolton. You are not a patriot in any sense of the word. I hope you rot in hell with Bush, Cheney, Rice and Rumsfeld.

Wouldn’t have made a damned bit of difference. #moscowmitch tipped his hand early; Trump was never going to be found guilty and removed from office. That will be up to the voters next November.

I’m not a First Amendment lawyer but I seem to recall from law school that prior restraint was a no no.
But conservatives control the SCOTUS for the first time in 50 years and they really think they can reverse all these First Amendment cases.

Of course Barr is using his office to shut it down. The book describes Bolton going to Barr with details of Trump’s tactics used with foreign leaders. Barr knew all along the depth of the corruption and extortion.
The impossibly sinister and corrupt attorney general having two unqualified sycophantic hacks offer affidavits using typically Trumpian hyperbole in a ridiculous attempt obtain a nearly unheard of prior restraint on matters already in print and being printed whose primary “harm” is the exposure of presidential wrongdoing that would humiliate the pathologically narcissitic moron game show host and damage his “ratings.” Sure. Of course. Why the fuck not? What possible obligation do any of them have to truth and the rule of law when Tremendous Leader’s “ratings” are at stake?
I would be totally okay with Bolton losing all his royalties for violating an NDA, though. Win-win.
There are a substantial number of advance copies out there. Everyone who has one should start to read it on You Tube or another social media site. In short, make sure that the information is “out there” right now.
This is a remarkable exhibition of feckless stupidity and incompetence. The book is in the hands of the Post, the Times, and other media outlets. DOJ’s actions are free advertising for media coverage of Bolton’s book.

For you older folks like me who remember, from your youth, the stories of a drunken Nixon weeping and talking to the portraits, you have to figure that’s the baseline here, and Trump is On Beyond Zebra from there and is twirling around beyond the heliosphere at this point. Gone Daddy Gone!
Somebody is desperate to take attention away from Bolton’s devastating China revelations. That while Trump is claiming Biden is weak on China, it turns out Xi owns him lock, stock, and barrel.

Frankly, every single honest account of Trump’s behavior is a devastating indictment. Attempts to suppress them are all he has.
