DOJ Gives Glimpse Of Approach To Secret Docs In Trump Case

We may learn a lot next week with Cannon’s rulings, especially on a trial date.

Of course, she may issue a reasonable decision on that as a head fake and then try to totally fuck the prosecution later in the case.

A double-down switcheroo false-flag-palooza

That’s one possible solution. The defense can say that if Trump is going to be convicted of something, the jury should be able to hear and determine for themselves whether the information was that sensitive.

There’s not only the classification and whether it’s still classified. There’s also the issue of whether the information is still sensitive.

Plus, there’s some information that even in summarized and redacted format, the government doesn’t want in the wild. Either because of the extreme sensitivity of the information or that a summarized disclosure would still reveal sources and methods of collecting the information that the government would prefer to keep secret.

Pretty much. If she sets trial for March 2025, there’s not much Team Smith can (or should) do about it.

Best move is indicting in D.C. on the conspiracy to defraud, thereby making Loose Cannon only marginally relevant

That would def. be the smart move. If (duh) she wants to tank the case, she should be normal and reasonable until the jury is seated, at which point she has total power to tank the case in ways that would make it unappealable by the prosecution.

If charges got filed against Dump in DC or NJ today, what’s the chance the case would be done by election day 2024?

Not zero.

But not good?

The delay is not awesome. Jack Smith should and could have prosecuted TMF on the stolen docs seven months ago.

Yeah. It would have been nice not to have to rely on “the American people” and what’s left of the electoral system and courts to keep him out of office.

This is the first time i have heard of someone claiming they cannot stand trial for stealing classified defense secrets and obstructing their return because they are too busy with other stuff.
The questions no one seems to want to ask are… why steal the docs? What was he gonna do with them?

It seems like a dream, but oh what a glorious dream.

Josh points out that time is running out for Youngkin to jump in the race. Or not. His packaging has been proceeding apace, and he has been doing the requisite stuff to build cred like his Asia tour. Also, as the Saudi favorite, he has access to infinite money, something that media moguls appreciate as they get a taste. White guy, reasonable, not even a billionaire, kind of dorkey. Down with the bulk of right-wing policies. He’s ready to go out of the box. Also, he keeps his ultra-right views to himself rather than blurting. We see this with Georgia Meloni in Italy. She was head of a fascist youth organization just a decade ago, but today is hailed as a “Eurorealist” supporting Ukraine and Nato, and stepping back from the right-wing nonsense often on display in Hungary and elsewhere in Eastern Europe. Youngkin’s politics likely align with Kavanaugh or Barrett, but he will be marketed as a “realist”. Youngkin changes his skin to meet the situation. Like Meloni, his ultra-right views will likely be excused.

Entirely plausible based on her past shenanigans.

Her ostensible belief that she could declare a past President above the law was absurd to begin with.

The Donald’s argument that he cannot stand trial for stealing classified defense secrets and obstructing their return because he is too busy angling for the chance to do it again is simply awesome
