And they keep laying out the entire plot for all of us to see and still the stories talk about Trump and Barr’s false claims more than they talk about their very active campaign to delegitimize the election. Every little nugget of information fits neatly into a frenzied and treasonous scheme that is discussed endlessly and dissected, but there is no defense for us except to vote in numbers so lopsided that they can’t get away with it.
Our institutions cannot protect us when they are the ones attacking us. The only coup in sight is the one Barr is fomenting inside the DOJ.
now if a U.S. attorney’s office suspects election fraud that involves postal workers or military employees, federal investigators will be allowed to take public investigative steps before the polls close, even if those actions risk affecting the outcome of the election.
That’s one thing but I’m glad the article also mentions this:
Specifically citing postal workers and military employees is noteworthy, former DOJ officials said. But the exception is written so broadly that it could cover other types of investigations as well, they said.
Before you c riticize this change, pleae remember the ground rules: it is intolerance to call out intolerance; it is racist to cal! out racism; and it is politicization of the DOJ to call out politicization of the DOJ.
That last rule is subject to change if the party controlling the DOJ changes, so keep up with events.
The one good thing about another Presidential debate is that Trump would probably crash and burn like never before due to the virus…now that would be hellaciously fun to watch!
I sometimes wonder why Barr has latched onto Trump so tightly.
Does he think he’s a great man who should have unlimited presidential power?
Does he see Trump as being the most extreme in asserting the unlimited presidential power that Barr thinks (Republican) presidents should have, and therefore wants to enshrine this in practice and policy?
Is he just a corrupt and somewhat crazy zealot who sees this all as his last chance to try to implement his whacko philosophy?
Whatever it is … he should be convicted and go to jail.
The Republican voter demographic is an ever-shrinking minority that has now passed the point of ever hoping to win a free and fair election. The current crop, against democracy, is their only hope of retaining any power.
Pure desperation…they see Biden running away with the election, which is completely due to Trump’s abusive debate performance and irresponsibility in the WH COVID outbreak. They are going to throw every single thing they possibly can at the election to help Trump, and we’re going to depend on civil servants who place the law and Constitution ahead of the political push of the Trump appointees to keep it from happening. Let’s hope they can, otherwise we’ll start to see headlines like “Biden being investigated for attempted coup of Trump!” being bandied about.
The American people seem to understand what’s at stake though, so it’s possible anything like that may backfire on Trump and the Republicans…that’s really what’s happening right now, we can hope their own goals continue for another four weeks and then they are booted a couple months later.
