A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things. This is TPM’s Morning Memo.
We’re currently back in vintage Donald Trump era where yelling about “ILLEGAL LEAKS” has become the main line of defense against a firehose of bad news for the former president.
Then later last night: the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals placed a temporary hold on Howell’s order and told both the Trump team and prosecutors to file new arguments within hours, giving Trump a deadline of midnight and Smith’s team a deadline of 6 a.m. Wednesday. The details of the filings remain sealed for now.
Tell me you’re sick of Trump’s bullshit without telling me you’re sick of Trump’s bullshit.
From what I gather, the timeframe the Appeals Court mandated is almost unprecedented.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen an appeals court order a briefing deadline of 6:00 a.m. the day following the order’s issuance Per Poltico, the panel consists of judges Pillard, Childs and Pan.
On Tuesday, Harding, who represented part of Marion County in the Florida House of Representatives, entered guilty pleas to one count of wire fraud, one count of money laundering and one count of making false statements. The rest of the counts against him will be dropped.
Harding faces a maximum term of 20 years in federal prison for the wire fraud charge alone. He faces a maximum of 10 years in prison for money laundering and a maximum of five years in prison for false statements.
Harding had just started his second term in the Florida House of Representatives when he was indicted. He’s best known for sponsoring the Parental Rights in Education law, known by critics as the “Don’t Say Gay” law.
Lightening fast speed on an appeals court case. One of the judges was appointed by Obama. The other two are Biden appointees. No point in asking for an accelerated briefs submission unless the judges were planning to rule quickly. Normally the next step would be scheduling oral arguments, I presume.
Desert loving in your eyes all the way If I listen to your lies, would you say I’m a man (a man) without conviction I’m a man (a man) who doesn’t know How to sell (to sell) a contradiction You come and go, you come and go
