A 30 point deficit would seem like an insurmountable deficit, but Alaska always seemed to be quirky.

Matalin, certainly. Carville seemed more your typical opportunist. Maybe that’s close enough to Matalin for them to hook up. I don’t think Carville understood how passionate and personal the politics of Democrats really are. He always seemed a little surprised that people couldn’t just switch sides.

I am putting this at the top because it pissed me off as much as the GOP sending out mailing telling people to vote on November 4, WEDNESDAY.

I know this because THURSDAY is NOVEMBER 12, which is my birthday.

SO what is it Thursday November 12 or Friday November 13; because there IS NO Thursday November 13 this year.

He is a born and bred Alaskan, not an outsider; both his Father and Mother have been involved in state politics. He bought his own commercial fishing boat at age 14 and he commercial fished for several years. He had an encounter with a bear in 1995, and killed the bear in self-defense. So he has some important Alaskan bona fides.

He is running as an Independent, which is a sometime Alaskan thing (Although, he has said he will caucus with Democrats). His opponent is an Ohio transplant who supports the controversial Pebble Mine that some surprising figures (Trump, Jr., and Tucker Carlson) oppose as it would wreck some great fishing spots.

So there you have it–An Alaskan opposed by an outsider. That’s the essence of it.
