Doctors Flummoxed By Long-Term Organ Damage In COVID-19 Survivors | Talking Points Memo

ETA? “Does she…or doesn’t she?”

If anyone were to get it, I’d want it to be him (plus Trump, of course).

I’ve seen different numbers so decided to go on the conservative end, but at 6% fatality we would be looking at some 13.4 million deaths.

I know, most don’t get to this stage, but it’s the fear that it could be you that keeps me alert. I think if more knew the worst case scenarios they might pay better attention.

All of this from a disease that’s no worse than the flu? I don’t believe it. I think the government deep state is sneaking into hospitals and causing all of this organ damage to patients just to mak Trump look bad. We need a Senate investigation of this ASAP.

And it is against this backdrop that the Trump Admin is pushing the ultraconservative SCOTUS to strike down Obamacare entirely so that the entire health insurance industry can treat past Covid19 as a preexisting condition.

1,309,657 cases total in the US with 77,964 deaths is a whisker from 6% mortality.

Very descriptive but too long for a bumper sticker.

Aspirin is a wonder drug. I am such a believer. I had a friend who was a surgeon who maintained that if aspirin had just been discovered it wouldn’t be available without a prescription.

He also told me it was the most effective blood thinner going - the statins notwithstanding.

I have never believed that Tylenol or any of the others were anything other than bogus. I am such a believer in aspirin.

I understand millions of Americans are volunteering to inject the bleach, or shove the desk light up Stephen Miller’s ass, in a selfless effort to save his life.

(It really restores my faith in the fundamental goodness of Americans.)

That is the rate for known cases, which is some fraction of the total cases. We are underestimating the number of deaths caused by COVID19 and vastly underestimating the number of infections. Of course, we would have a much better estimate of the number of actual infections/recoveries in the population if we had adequate testing. Trump does not want the actual numbers to be known so he can keep beating the drum to open things up so the economy will recover before the election. Only a f%^&ing moron would believe that the economy could recover that soon, but there it is.

…sweet mother of god… and no ACA if 45 gets his way… and closed/bankrupted hospitals and nursing homes… and millions out of work so how will they pay for whatever care they can scrounge?

The 1.3 million cases is much more underestimated than the 78K deaths, because of insufficient testing. 1% is a reasonable estimate for death rate if we’d actually counted all those infected so far (including asymptomatic), so it’s the right rate if we want to extrapolate to most of the population. Anyway, awful even if it turns out to be only 0.5%. Long-term consequences are clearly far more than the death count.

I’m sure her noodliness will forgive us both!

He won`t… dude is AWOL … but I think we all are wondering how this level of absurd and insane can be mantained until november or heaven forbid :slightly_smiling_face: the next four years.

And the military doesn’t want to take on the responsibility for longterm care.

They’d better be careful what they wish for. They’re going to infect the entire country with it. There will be nobody who’s eligible for insurance. This is the scenario that led the British to adopt single-payer in the 1940s, only in their case it is that government and employer health insurance in the UK only covered waged workers and not dependents, so women, children and retirees basically didn’t have health care. When Truman tried to push health reform through in the US at the same time as Attlee did it in the UK, we were already at 80 percent health coverage as opposed to less than 50. So we didn’t have the same sense of urgency as a country. And on top of that Truman demobbed too fast from the war and triggered a serious recession and lost control of Congress as a result. Attlee demobbed as slowly as he could given Britain’s balance of payments situation and also didn’t have to face a mid-term election. And on such little details turned the history of health care.

You can bet your last dollar that if Trump wins his anti-ACA case (and along with it total elimination of the ENTIRE ACA and ALL of it’s provisions) that once they are off the hook for “preexisting conditions coverage”, that ALL the Insurance Companies will declare COVID-19 a PRE-EXISTING CONDITION and refuse to cover ANYBODY who has been confirmed to have had the disease.

The Pentagon has ALREADY declared that diagnosis of a COVID-19 infection PERMANENTLY DISQUALIFIES any and all applicants from US Military Service. (What do they know that the rest of us do not?)

I smell the secret hand of the Insurance Industry in this assault upon the ACA by Trump, made even more urgent by the MILLIONS who have now had COVID-19 infections. The Insurance Companies want off the hook for covering ANYBODY who has had it, and it looks like the Trump SCOTUS just might let them do it.

But we will never know those numbers. Minnesota just pushed above 10,000 cases today with 534 deaths. That’s better than a 5% mortality rate.

Twenty-six more people have died from COVID-19 in Minnesota, state health officials reported Friday, and the statewide count for confirmed cases pushed above the 10,000 mark for the first time.

The statewide toll is 534 deaths, according to data posted Friday morning by the Minnesota Department of Health. Residents of long-term care and assisted living facilities account for 434 deaths, roughly four out of every five across the state.

Don’t worry! With our cheap and accessable health care system, you can afford all the fun long-term care you want.

McConnell. 45* wouldn’t be here without him if he had behaved honorably in 2016.
