Heh. Yesterday I posted a screenshot from 538 showing what I thought would be Trump’s high water mark in approval, at 43. It actually went up to 43.1 briefly, salad days. Then it went down to 42.9. Now it’s at 42.7. It takes several days to a week after a significant event for reliable post-event polling to be released, and while this story came out late last week, it only went critical a day or two ago.
Once the first credible polls come out that were taken after all this, I fully expect his numbers to go below 40, and never go back again. He’ll be at 35 within a month, if not sooner. I see him in the 20’s by year’s end. This story will get him down to 35, but what he does next in panic to try to save himself is what will get him down to the 20’s. He’s going to overreact and try to do something awful, and that will lose him Repubs and truly bury him. Wait for it, it’s coming. Past is prologue.
He’s a politically dead man walking. Perhaps literally.

It’s time to find Maguire in inherent contempt of Congress, since Trump/Barr witness tampered with him. He needs to be taken away in handcuffs, imprisoned, and fined until he responds truthfully.

As many have pointed out today, executive privilege does not apply to discusions of crimes, and the WH counsel knows this.
The thing is, discussing crimes or how to cover them up may be pretty much all Trump does when talking to others in his administration, or outside his administration for that matter.

Rep. Maloney really hammered McGuire on this just now. McGuire refuses to answer the question of whether he discussed the whistleblower complaint with Trump and repeatedly hid behind executive privilege.
So yeah, he absolutely discussed this with Trump, and then decided not to turn it over to Congress. It’s that simple. McGuire can fluff his long record of Navy and government service all he wants, but when the cards were laid on the table, he chose Trump over his country.
