DNC Announces Speakers For Largely Virtual Convention | Talking Points Memo

The Democratic National Convention next week features speeches from the Obamas, the Clintons and Biden’s most formidable competitor for the Democratic nomination, Sen. Bernie Sanders (VT). Biden’s much-anticipated running mate, who has not yet been named, is also scheduled to address the convention on Wednesday.

No stimulus deal anytime soon, “partly because White House chief of staff Mark Meadows is out for the week but mostly because the administration feels confident they have the upper hand politically following President Donald Trump’s executive actions”

Nice that he can take a week off while millions need help.

So here’s hoping that the Dems settle on message that will derecho* the Republicans out of office in every state.

*new weather term I learned last night. Awesomely scary.

The Democratic machine is running like a fully charged Tesla! Meanwhile, Trump has jerked his people around from SC to FL back to SC and now either to the White Man’s House (formerly The People’s House) … or maybe even Gettysburg, so he can celebrate his Great American Heros like Bobbie Lee and Jeff Davis. But Trump’s got another few weeks to change plans and pull rugs out from under chosen venues! And he will!

One hopes that GOP-style isn’t the kind of government the American people actually want…

If “Mark Meadows is out for the week” it’s clearly the time for Mitch McConnell to re-start the negotiations.

I thought I read somewhere that John Kasich was going to be one of the speakers?

Or possibly even something not developed by a batshit crazy CEO. But I take your point.

Conventions used to be fun to watch. Dan Rather running around, Cronkite in the booth. Now are just campaign ads. I’ll read about it on TPM.

Where he will repeal the Emancipation Proclamation and erect a statue with him riding Lee’s horse.

Are Democrats really stupid enough to give a die-hard Republican the precious prime time of a Democratic convention to speak to the American people instead of using that time to promote our own upcoming Democratic stars? Really? How stupid are we?

For the fact of misreading a period as a comma, I had a head tilt for a moment.

I think Trump should accept the nomination at Appomattox.

In Trump world, Pence is interchangeable with chopped liver any day. Available in any fine grocery store near you.

"Some
people would say men are insulted by that," said Pres Trump
this morning of @JoeBiden's
commitment to choose a woman as running mate. "Some people
would say it's fine. I don't know," added Trump
on @FoxSportsRadio.
"But people don't vote for the Vice
President," he said.

The “American People” (at least some of them) voted for “Game-Show Government” where the inebriated host screams “YOU Get a Tax Cut! and YOU Get a Tax Cut!, but YOU ALL DON"T!!!”

and the crowd cheers.

Bread and Circuses. That’s what 40% of the US Population voted for, and will do so again.
Bread and Circuses…

We had a derecho in our area a few years back. It should be known as a treeslayer. Never seen so many big trees down after a storm. Lost power for a week in the middle of July. It’s kind of like a straight tornado.
