The platinum-selling, Grammy-winning country trio is dropping the “dixie” in their name after facing criticism over the term — a commonly used nickname to describe the Civil War-era South. The group announced the move as nationwide protests emerged in the wake of George Floyd’s death, prompting a movement to remove Confederate statues and memorials of other historical figures linked to racism.
“The Base” will have a problem here: they already stopped buying their stuff because of what they said about W, and now they may have to go buy more stuff so that they can burn it and stop buying their stuff again.

Fun fact: Southern Comfort is way ahead of these people and companies. They didn’t change their name but they took off a picture of the Woodland Plantation in LA from their bottles in 2010 from what I read. Now that’s only 10 years ago but clearly they were onto something way ahead of the rest.
Figures… I know people in the publishing and publicity world, they do have staff that are supposed to be checking on things like names to be sure they’re not stepping on someone else’s turf.
