Discussion for article #247432
From Carl Bialik over at FiveThirtyEight, Rubio’s exit helps Kasich and Cruz way more than Trump nationally. Among the 3,372 Republican and Republican-leaning independents interviewed from March 11 to 15 by Morning Consult, the online media and polling company, there were 412 Rubio supporters. Among them, 47 percent had Cruz as their second choice, 27 percent had Kasich, 13 percent said Trump, and the rest liked someone else or didn’t know.
And many crossover democrats who voted for Katich to stop Trump
Two words… Thanks Ohio!
More than TK?
Pretty clear that TK is angling for the VP slot. I’m just not sure which VP slot.
I know the establishment pundits, particularly all the right-wing talking heads, will try to spin this as big news, as some kind of upset, or even as a tipping point against Trump, but I think the real story here is that even against a supposedly “popular” governor in his home state, Trump looks like he’ll finish within single digits of a win. With his dominating wins elsewhere tonight, not sure how OH alters the actual facts, even if it will be used to alter the narrative.
Interesting question - Can TK run on both tickets?
Anything that fucks with Trumpian math is OK with me. Kasich can’t win the traditional way but good for him for getting his home state and denying that orange creamsicle OH’s winner-take-all delegates.
Hmmm. Why not? The VP candidate usually campaigns separately, so there’s definitely a potential for some zany sit-com-like antics.
Republicans are now getting themselves all worked up at the thought that somehow Kasich might be the nominee. Yeah, that’s not happening.
It’s worse than that because there was a big push by Ohio Democrats to help put Governor Kasich over the top in order to stop Trump. He’s not going to get that kind of help anywhere else.
The Vice President Trap starring TK as the twins determined to get their parties back together.
Could work…
Amen, sister.
And this bullshit Kasich tries to sell to the general public about how he’s for the downtrodden…Nuh-Uh. The guy did the usual GOP crap in his state giving tax breaks to the rich while doing it on the backs of the poor. The only reason Ohio is doing well is because Obama saved the auto industry. He did expand Medicaid under Obamacare…but that’s about it. Plus, the base of the party either doesn’t know who he is or can’t stand that he’s just another Establishment Republican, and that Medicaid expansion would naturally disqualify him to their way of thinking. Not crazy enough for them I guess. Mr. I’m so fucking humble is full of the same kind of shit that the rest of these GOoPers hang on to.
He is a terrible speaker
Curmudgeonly, surly, and a real grump…That’s how I see him.
This guy is supposed to be a popular, reasonable governor (and the savior apparent of the GOP), and yet he was outpolled by double digits by the two nuttiest crackpots in the party in his home state. I’m really enjoying this election cycle!
And is it just me or does he always look like he just woke up less than a minute ago?
