I was just listening to the radio in my car. Apparently Bernie Sanders made a folk album at some point in his career. I’m not kidding They played him singing the Pete Seeger song Where Have All The Flowers Gone. It was one of those things,so bad it was good, hilarious actually.
I couldn’t get it to run on TPM either. Dunno why. They worked fine in the past.
I’d say you may be overthinking this a bit.
The skit about his campaign in Iowa was hilarious. This one…meh.
Naa, you misread it. Clearly Sanders was against the rich guy who wanted to go before the women and children.
It was just a bit of fun, anyway. I wouldn’t read too much into it.
Personally I thought the skit on his Iowa campaign was much funnier.
Haven’t heard the whole album, but the “This Land is Your Land” is a real doozy too.
Twin bros separated at birth…
The sketch was weak. It went on too long without a punchline (Bernie) and the punchline had no zip. It was a campaign ad done badly. Bernie’s catch phrase fell flat, because the audience wasn’t “with it” and ready. That ought to have been the payoff. This sort of weak writing is why I no longer watch the show.
Running a Carlin clip after the Larry David sketch also undercuts the sketch before it.
Nice try, and good to see Bernie, but as far as comedy goes, politics is easy, comedy is hard.
I didn’t think the sketch was that great. The one before that with Larry David playing Bernie at the Iowa caucuses was pretty funny
