Are they going to jail?

I was in a protest once, holed up in a university building and relying on the community to make sure that I (and the rest of the protesters) were properly fed.

Here’s the thing: we didn’t destroy government property to get our goal across. If that lot isn’t worth wasting a bullet, so be it. However here’s the thing: they are holed up in a government compound, breaking into government records and destroying government property.

and then there is that hypocritical past, where each of them were or are reliant on Uncle Sam to look out for em.

However, a certain percentage of bystanders pissed a fit when Black Lives Matter or Occupy protests derailed their comings and goings. That same number didn’t have an issue when those aforementioned protesters ended up in the system (though the charges got dropped).

There is already evidence that the lot in Maltheur want to be martyrs, so I can understand the caution and disdain in giving them their wish.

With that accumulated evidence though…if they aren’t looking at a magistrate at the end of this, I want to know why.

Here, have a rope. Want some more - sure here have some more.

Eventually the rope (and the publicity) will end, and the hanging shall begin (figuratively of course).

Thing is, how many members of the media are still there waiting for the (not coming) fed apocalypse? As long as they’re paying attention this thing drags on. They ought to pool money and pay one cameraman and one reporter and see how much longer it lasts.

Well, of course they are - & they are just piling up all the evidence against them on YouTube & social media. Once this silliness is done, the accumulated evidence is going to be shoved down their throats no matter where they go next. This is their Last Stand, their penultimate defense against the siege of jackboot federal government - except there’s no siege at all, just a team of observers gathering up evidence and correlating it for the coming indictments and trial hearings.

Flag-Horse Guy should be a meme. Just randomly inserted into images everywhere to underline the complete pointlessness of all this.

“But we’ve got a guy with a flag! On a HORSE! This MUST be meaningful! Please don’t make me go back to my wife and kids!!”

"LaVoy Finicum– a Mormon rancher who has ceased paying grazing fees and has penned a right-wing conspiracy-ridden cowboy thriller – had several foster children removed from his family’s custody back in Arizona.

He claimed the federal government was taking aim against his family in retaliation for his involvement in the standoff in Oregon, but questions have now been raised about his motivations for fostering such a large number of children and whether such an activity is his major source of income."

Was his major source of income. Even if the government he calls evil now wanted to look the other way, they can no longer condone his notorious child labor camp. As seen on TV, he is not present, not “caring” for the juvenile forced laborers at the “ranch,” and not setting any positive example of legality for them to follow. (He has openly made a mockery of U.S. Human Rights treaty obligations BTW, for which we are all responsible.) Thus cast off the grift, he has substantially no income any longer and no reputation either. Yee-haaaa!!

Wait a minute!! I thought you were preparing to hand over a couple of dozen U.S. states to Bundy and his teahadding “patriots”? Weren’t you?!

Early on I thought that the federal government should surround the area and prevent the “militia men” from coming and going to buy supplies, etc. But it looks like the feds made the correct decision. Well done!

meanwhile back at Fort Courage…

Sgt O’Rourke and Cpl Agarn make plans to go into town for supplies aided by the Hekawi…

Capt Parmenter diverts attention by giving another pointless interview aided by the the horse guy carrying the flag…

the rest of the troops continue to search for Col Hogan’s coffee pot with the microphone…

Pay a reporter and cameraman? They should just set up a webcam, like when they observe other rare animals. Then we can have leftover money to hire a narrator.

“Here we see the militia man in his native habitat. His head to toe camo-colored plumage on display to show his masculinity. Ahhhh, but what’s this invading his den? Dildos! The militia man is not pleased, and responds with aggression.”

While the GOP’s style is to huff and puff and bluster, Obama, Jedi Warrior, “Please proceed, Governor”. No Drama Obama doesn’t let the limelight shine on us ordinaries. He doesn’t distract from their craziness which is left bare for the world to see.

Also, too, these occupiers aren’t FOR something - they are not lobbying for anything other than freebies for themselves – that’s why they are so discordant. They are only AGAINST.

Kinda like the GOP.

[/quote] Ah what fond memories it conjures!

WH’s guiding star in this one is, I think, no bloodshed. Don’t give the snack-craving giant-buckle buffoons the satisfaction!

I would have more faith in that if Cliven’s Bundy had faced charges in court. What’s the deal with that? Glad they took the foster children away from that one guy, at least. Of course his wife would probably have shot him once he “mosied” on home otherwise.

Do those wacko birds still have electricity and water? You don’t have to storm the buildings - but at least make their living arrangements a lot more uncomfortable.

When will they be arrested for breaking all the laws that they have clearly broken? I realize they are white and from rural America but that shouldn’t allow them to break the law and to endanger the general public with their gun waving and intimidating ways. They want te people’s land for themselves…it’s called white trash wanting government handouts!

Bush & Cheney would go in and smoke 'em out…of course not literally, they always let others (children of the middle and working class) do their fighting for them. I’m just sayin…

I’m hoping that, at the very least, this fiasco ends the feeding at the government trough for all these idiots. As with Finicum, “making their stand” should end any and ALL government assistance forever. Live by the stupidity, die by the stupidity.

They tore down the web cams (yet another destruction of property) based on the Constitutional guarantee of privacy while you are occupying government property.

They were insulted by the dildos; they wanted blow-up women.

This is actually a viable commercial proposition. You might want to pitch the thing to Discovery Channel head David Zaslov. Set up a few go-pros, one camera crew, and some structural tension. Probably need a show runner, some director, and you’ve got to figure out which of these guys are most fun to follow around. And the name, have to have a good name.

Yee-Haw-ed!

I’ve been thinking this has been the Feds’ probable strategy. I based my assumption on the fact that the big organized militias obviously don’t respect these nitwits and the local population hates them, so Ammon Bundy and his bunch have no real support or influence. (I think I read somewhere that even his father disapproves.) I also didn’t think the Feds are somehow clueless or weak in the knees, as some folks on comments threads do who want them to go in with guns blazing.

Yeah, people are either very young or have super-short memories. Confronting these groups inside their lairs has rarely if ever ended well.
